Restaurant with an interesting menu for brunch, lunch and dinner. Wonderful, friendly service with some unique personal touches, especially for hotel guests. Highly recommend.

“Pricey but good”
Reviewed 16 April 2012

We were looking for seafood and after a lot of walking around we decided to stop here. The food was a little pricey for lunch but it was delicious. It was, also, gourmet and we were looking for something a little more simple. However, what we got was quite yummy. The outdoor seating brought about a little more casual atmosphere, which is what we wanted. We were, also, in a busy area so we could do some people watching. The waiter was prompt and attentive. Overall a good experience, just not amazing.

“Overrated”
Reviewed 16 April 2012

After booking our stay in Hotel CommonWealth, we were happy to read that two highly rated tripadvisor restaurants were merely steps away from our hotel. Well..... the ratings were right on one of those restaurants, and Eastern Standard was not it. The evening started out nicely- we liked the decor and ambiance, and got a great booth seat. Unfortunately, those were some of the highlights....... our waitress was either really bored, did not want to be there, or simply just had ZERO personality. Trying to get local oyster information from her was painful..... I felt like I had to ask 20 questions. And the oysters are some what of a highlight of the restaurant- she should have showcased them. And the oysters were great....... and we did love that you could taste several varieties in one serving. But the rest of our food was just OK to not great and she was no help with the wine list. While I have been to France, twice, I have not been in about 10 years. And I LOVE wine... take wine trips yearly. But again, asking her questions about some of the red wines seemed like I was a bother...... so unfortunately, we decided NOT to bother with Eastern Standard again. Having worked in the food industry in my younger years- I get it, everyone has a bad day...... but it really was depressing seeing all the tables around us with other servers who were delightful and we were being served by Debbie Downer. And again, the oysters were lovely, but the rest of the food was sub-par.

“Nice service”
Reviewed 13 April 2012

Ate here for lunch and dinner. Loved that the menu had some healthy choices and the waiters were knowledgeable about the preparations. Really enjoyed my nicose salad and carrot ginger soup at lunch as well as the bouillabase special for dinner. The bread is fresh and the pieces aren't too large. Great wine list. Good place for business dinner/lunch as it isn't too loud and allows for good conversation.
