“Adequate hotel just slightly off centre.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 March 2012

Not too far from the Back Bay Amtrak and Orange Line station. Be sure to exit from the Clarendon St. end of the station, saving you five minutes' walk. The hotel is very basic with no in-house dining facilities. But tea/coffee is complementary and ice is available from a machine at the ground floor. Unfortunately the few restaurants that are within 10 minutes' walk are not very good/inviting. The room is small but OK if you are not staying in that much. You cannot really use this as a base to work. Bathroom is recently refurbished. Cleaning is OK. The hotel was classified as a two-star one at booking.com but probably is worth three stars; but for the standard that it offers it is not a bargain.

I stayed at the Chandler Inn in September 2011. Like many other reviews here the rooms are not large but quite enough room for two people who weren't spending a lot of time in their hotel. The front desk staff were super friendly, offering suggestions for local restaurants, directions, parking options. Very clean and in close walking distance to some great restaurants. The sports bar next door was nice, friendly staff and great drinks at good prices. Definitely a place I would stay again (and will in May!)

Rooms are small but stylish. Not suitable for more than one person unless you like being in a confined space. Service was adequate. A little bit too much attitude from the front desk clerk but suspect they aren't aware how they come across to guests who actually expect a friendly welcome at a hotel. Overall adequate hotel in reasonable location.

We chose this hotel because of its location and price. The rooms were decorated very nicely and were very clean (although the bathrooms are tiny!). We also liked the coffee machine in the foyer. Our only disappointment was the noise from the main road, we had thought that it would be quiet because of the side streets but unfortunately the hotel is on a busy crossroads. But other than that, a great place to stay in Boston.

I stayed at Chandler Inn overnight last February. The room was nicely decorated, the bathroom was small but functional. The staff was very kind, and there was a nice coffee machine at the entrance. The hotel is perfectly located, just two blocks from Back Bay Station (just a five-minute walk).
Great place to stay when in Boston!

It was the perfect size room for us when we didn't really spend a lot of time there, out sightseeing in the city. Friendly, out-of-the-way staff. Only complaints were that the water smelled a little funny (old pipes?) and the big shower didn't slope to the drain quite right, left standing water. Otherwise, it was convenient and cozy.

We were referred to this hotel by friends as it was very close to where we needed to be for this trip (Boston Ballet). The room was tiny and the bathroom even tinier, but it was all decorated with a lot of panache. Desk staff could not have been kinder or more helpful. A nice coffee shop was literally around the corner for morning coffee and breakfast, and it was a very short walk to where we needed to be. We had read on prior ratings on TA that noise could be a factor and had asked for as quiet a room as possible and were put on the top (eighth) floor. Someone in the room next to us was a bit loud on a couple of occasions, but otherwise were very quiet. Definitely a good price too for that area of the city. Would definitely go back again.

Room Tip: We had read on prior TA ratings that rooms on lower floors could be noisy because of noise from the...
