Very disappointing experience this second visit. Just when our expectations were high we were informed that large parties had occupied all the indoor seating and we were led to an outside table with the promise of a "free" appetizer. We had the grilled octopus because it was the healthiest choice, but were charged $14 ($5 discount) since it was not one of the free appetizers they had in mind (even though one was $18 on the menu). The lamb osso bucco was excellent, however, and my wife's cioppino was also good. This time the waiter did not offer to decant our wine and it was a Brunello. Flourless chocolate cake with pistachio gelato were also good. Ambiance did not meet our expectations and we won't be back.

The osetra seafood restaurant is a very good place to eat seafood. There are a plenty of choices and all fresh. We had a family seafood dish to share among all. For main, some had scallops-giant !!! , lobster ravioli, tagatelli...
you need to be aware that the socials of the day-not in the menu, can turn your meal very, very expensive, and you should ask for the prices before you confirm your choice. Could be a unpleasant surprise.

We had good memories of dining in Osetra the last time we were in san diego 4 years ago so we thought we would try it again and were in no rush with an 8pm booking. It started off well with a very nice plate of mixed chilled shellfish. We were just finishing this and looking for something to clean our hands on when the main course arrived!. the waiter wanted to clear the dishes and give it straight to us while we still were looking for napkins or water to clear our hands. we said we would like a 30 minute gap between courses but the next course returned five minutes later (thankfully after we had cleaned our hands). again we requested a 30 minute delay. This time the manager came out and confirmed this and the meal came when we asked for it. However, there were some other issues. The table was wet and messy after the chilled plate but they never wiped it down- we did it ourselves. the dirty napkins we used to clean our hands were not removed until we asked. We had to ask for more water and fresh cutlery and the bill i.e. nothing seemed proactive despite the previous issues. The main courses were however very nice. The bill then had some surprises- i was offered truffle shavings on my ravioli- that was an extra $15. Then they added 20% for gratuity. Australians usually tip based on service and i understand it is different in the US but this really was the icing on the cake for me- they did remove it which earned them an extra point but it unlikely we will return despite the food and wine quality. a bill of $217 for two should have service that matches as well as excellent food. Lift your act Osetra.

Very classy decor, dim lights and little candles on the tables. Very romantic. I had mozzarella appetizer and ahi tuna as a main course. I really loved every bit of that tuna stake. The only down part the place is very pricey. My tuna was 36. Otherwise great food and atmosphere. Very attentive service.

35 of us for business lunch. Great staff and well managed with decent dinner. Prearranged menu but steak was well cooked though they never asked how we wanted it (came medium rare). Never rushed and well catered by the servers.
