Worth the drive, another must see spot when you're in San Diego. There's not much at the end of the road other than the monument, but if you have access to a car, do it!

I cannot go to San Diego without spending significant time at Point Loma. The views from here are just top-notch. Not only can you see great views of the city, Coronado Bridge, and the harbor, but you could also appreciate the vastness of the Pacific Ocean. We were very fortunate to be able to spot a submarine on a training run. That was very cool. A drive down to the tide pools is a must. You really get a feel for the power of the waves as pounds into the nooks and crannies of the shoreline. The gift shop at Jose Cabrillo Monument is nice. They let you check out binoculars for free.
Drove all they way up, scenic road. Waited for ages in a very slow moving que.
Found out there was a state park fee $20.
Turned around and went to the cemetery, such a sad but beautiful place.
Very moving to see, also great views from this area.
I’m sure Pat Lomas would be worth the wait, but we were time poor on the day.
There a small entrance fee but this is a must see. The light house is right there and you can walk up the stairs and see the accomodations.
Lovely view, tranquility, beautifully colored wild flowers. Tide pools, and birds - pelicans, comorants, black birds. Well worth renting a car to visit.
Point Loma is a nice view of the harbor, but there's not much to do there. You cannot go up into the lighthouse, so it's just there to look at from the outside. The Cabrillo monument is ok, again just something to look at. The Military Cemetery is sobering and the best thing to view there. We enjoyed looking at the boats and view, but will not go back to this spot.
