It was a wonderful day to look for whales. Unfortunately, we did not spot one this day. we did see many dolphins though. They offer half price on next tour if no whale is spotted. Great time was had by all.

We spent a beautiful Sunday chasing whales with an "authentic " sea captain, Al, and a very good crew of Bob, Suzie, the real captain and others. Al kept us entertained and informed -- very interactive-- between whale sightings. Highly recommended!

Signed up for whale watching cruise, when we met with captain he explained that there were high winds and anyone not wanting to go could do it another day. one couple left. The ship can accommodate up to 72 people, there were only 20 of us. This cruise turned out to be one of the best things we have ever done in San Diego. We saw no whales , but that didn't matter at all. Swells on the ocean wer 8 to 10 feet. The America performed beautifully. It was exciting, the crew was great, the captain competent. I encourage any one who has never been on a saling ship of this caliber to experience this type of trip. Thank you America and her crew.

I'm not sure you have truly experienced San Diego until you have sailed out through the bay. The boat was beautiful I was having such an amazing day wouldn't have even cared if we didn't see whales. But we did and lots of them. Got nice and close because the lack of engine doesn't scare them off. Also they provided snacks, Soda and hot chocolate through out the day! 100% recommend. Also if your comparing this to other whale watching tours and being scared off by the price. Unlike the other tours we saw out that day there was only max 20 of us on the boat as opposed to the other tours that had people shoved everywhere (even in winter) and the sailing in itself is an awesome experience. I say that on a full time student budget!

Booking was easy; but the result gave no clear place other than the marina to meet the boat like go to marina office, marina launch, or marina pier #. And a follow up call got no information; so we almost missed the cruise we paid for. Captain was relatively quiet and communicated poorly with the crew; however, the crew was friendly and helpful. And the boat itself is a joy! Bring your own refreshments because serving them is minimal at best. AND go to the bathroom beforehand because you will be asked to hold it unless you cannot. We took the boat in NJ in a non whale watch location. We enjoyed it. We are old. But despite a good breeze, the sail was tame, and sailing time was too short a part of the 3 hours. Don't do this unless you are dying to sail on a large boat.
