“Nude Beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2012

Very much enjoy this beach. The walk down is a little treacherous. No railings along the way. The beach isn't super clean, but if you walk far enough to the left there are some nice spots where you can go nude and you wont be bothered by alot of people walking by. And this is a very young beach, all ages not just creepy old men - which is what people think when they think about nude beaches.
But this beach was voted #1 Best Nude beach in the world for 2011.
Worth checking out.

“stumbled into it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 January 2012

When staying in La Jolla, we wanted to go paragliding. Drove and parked in the dry, dirt-rutted parking lot by the Gliderport. No one was flying, but it was a beautiful day. We saw a trail leading down with a lot of activity on it, as well as surfers out in the water. It was a nice, but steep climb down. When we reached the bottom, a gentleman passing by going up warned us of nude sightings. We headed south toward the surfers. We walked the beach all the way down to the Script Pier then headed back. The area we walked was beautiful and neat to explore. We passed a rocky area where there are pools with little crab, fish, and birds feeding. The surfers were fun to watch too. Nudity seemed to be more north of that gliderport trail, but it could have just been that day. The climb back up was a little more taxing . . . okay, so I had to stop and catch my breath before reaching the top . . . but it was worth it!

I would rate this excellent, but want to be a little more reserved for those who might fear those nude sightings.

“Nude beach, beautiful and hard to get to”

Be careful on the cliffs. Enjoy the handgliders over head. It is not legal to be naked, but see if they are enforcing it by seeing what others are wearing or not, don't stare at people, be cool.

“Great surfing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2011

The hike is a bit much to get down to the water, but once you're there, it's a great break. Nice place for beginning to intermediate surfers. The beach stretches for a ways in both directions, so it attracts all kinds in their various pockets.
