I travel to SD every year, this being my 6th. I have stayed at many "resorts" so I thought this one would be great. How wrong I was.

1. the beds are hard as rocks [and the sheets don't feel clean]
2. there was an air pump that kept going off in my bathroom all night
3. the decor is from the 70's, nothing is updated except the main lodge
4. there are no elevators-and all the rooms are located outside of the main check in area, expect to walk a lot up or downhill for everything AND expect to either a. pay a bellman to bring your bags to your room or b. drag it up or down several flights of stairs
5. expect to see dirty room service dishes all over the property. I witnessed random plates and half eaten food all weekend
6. I hope you like nature, because bullfrogs kept me up all night
7. the closet doors did not close, so the light in the closet went on and off all weekend. I had to put my bag in front of the door to keep the light off
8. the room had a musty smell and the carpet was grimy like it had not been cleaned in years.
9. I hope you like walking-there is no other way to get around the property. Up and down 45 degree angled hills

The plus side:
1. the restaurant food was good
2. I got the best hot rock massage at the spa

And THATS IT...

This is one of our favorite hotels! Rancho Bernardo makes us feel at home. . . the ambiance reflects a fine balance of comfort and elegance, set in a serene and natural surrounding. All the staff are extremely friendly and greet you as if you have always been living there, giving you a sense of belonging. We were particularly well taken care of by your Front Desk Supervisor, Kyle Mitchell, who patiently assisted us with last minute changes to our room reservations.
Thank you, Mr. John Gates (General Manager) and all your staff for continuing to make our experience at the Rancho Bernardo the bestest ever!
We will be back very soon. . ..

This was my 25th year with a group of golfers that once again made their annual trek to Rancho Bernardo Inn for golf, good food and some relaxation. The golf course is both challenging and fun to play with the opportunity to play other area golf courses in their golf package.....Maderas for one.

The food and service is well above average and they go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Any problems, just say the word.

Can't recommend it high enough.

Last year 8 guys made the trip to RBI for 30th annual golf trip. It was great! this year we did it again. Lodging, service, food, golf course and the weather were excellent. Rooms are bright and comfortable, dining and drinking outside are relaxing, love the Starbucks each morning. Golf course was in great shape. Hard to beat the guys loved it.

Room Tip: golf course views are awesome

I have always loved the Rancho Bernardo Inn. The staff goes out of it's way to be friendly, the rooms are spacious (some a little dated) and the food is generally creative and well prepared. What I found lacking on this trip was the fitness center- only 4 treadmills, one not working and TV's not working (or missing) on one bike and one eliptical. All of the exercise units are dated and only a few have working pulse monitors. Needs a refresh!

Just spent the past nine days at RBI for the second straight year on golf trip with friends. Accomodations, restaurants, golf course and service could not be better. Everything was first class! Hope to be back again!

I just finished a 9 day golf trip to RBI. Incredible. We played the well manicured course 5 times, hit the spa, at way too much in the restaurant and enjoyed the service of the employees. We stayed here last year and will return next year. We were there March2-11. Thank you RBI

Room Tip: We had a view of beautiful gardens. You might ask for that.
