“Breakfast as you hoped it would be”
Reviewed 16 March 2012

Looking for a quick, filling breakfast? This is the place. We ate there two days in a row. First day, had eggs, hash browns and biscuit the size of a planet. Second day, french toast. Both were excellent. The prices are reasonable, the service good, and the room was quiet. Only qualm about the place was the "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" next to the cash register. Haven't seen those signs since the 50's and they don't bring back good memories; perhaps there is a legit reason for the sign, but it wasn't welcoming.

“Clean atmosphere, not your typical greasy spoon”
Reviewed 13 March 2012

We grabbed breakfast at this restaurant with a large group. They're specialty is omelets and they have a large variety for everyone. I was impressed with the atmosphere, it was a very clean up scale place with great food. They gave us the option of splitting an omelet for $1.00 which was more than enough for two. I'd go back for breakfast the next time I'm in San Diego.

“Classic American diner food.”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

The classic American diner. The Broken Yolk became my family's go-to brunch spot. Think classic -- pancakes, French toast, bacon, omelettes, and lots of coffee. Service was prompt and friendly. The food was good and filling and kept us going until dinner. If you plan to go more than once, grab a free map at the cashier's -- there's a $2 coupon off any entree.

“Eggs Florentine”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

The eggs Florentine here are very good. Lots of spinach - it doesn't taste super fresh, but the hollendaise sauce makes up for the frozen spinach and the poached eggs have been perfectly cooked all 3 times in the last 3 days. The fresh fruit is ok, watermelon, pineapple, and cantaloupe. Also enjoyed the french toast with strawberries (the strawberries were previously frozen and in a sauce). Given that our choice was here or the $24 breakfast at the Hilton, this place wins out hands-down. Plus the servers couldn't be sweeter.

“Great Breakfast”
Reviewed 16 February 2012

Great breakfast Cafe. Weekends get busy. Our group went to The Broken Yoke every morning. We never ran into a meal we didn't like.
