Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: The best way to spend time on San Diego's beaches is by doing something unique - build a professional style sand castle! San Diego Sand Castles isn't a gallery, competition, or "thing to see" for public viewing (please don't come to our address expecting to see sand castles!) In fact, we're a far more interactive reservations-required beachside "thing to do" where your group gets to be the artists! San Diego Sand Castles specializes in sand castle lessons for people of all ages all year-round! Our sand castle lessons are a lot of fun, are educational, and a great way to spend time on the beach in San Diego. When the instructors aren't happily teaching sand castle lessons, they are often working on professional masterpiece commissioned sculptures or you can often find them creating their own unique ideas!

Had an AMAZING time with JT. He is SUPER patient and EXTREMELY knowledgeable about sand castles. JT ensured my husband and I had an AMAZING time. He did a MAGNIFICENT job explaining all the intricate details to us. Throughout the process he also made time to stop and take pictures whenever we asked. Two hours flew by so fast. JT was a bit disappointed b/c we had to leave as he wanted to show us more tricks to building sand castles. I NEVER felt rushed EVER. I HIGHLY recommend JT to ANYONE thinking about engaging in this activity.

JT was previously booked so we had the privilege of working with Jillian who was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about building sand castles. We had our 3 children, ages 14, 11, and 7, and although they all had fun, the 14 year old seemed to enjoy it the most. We learned techniques that we will be able to use in the future back at our home beaches. We loved that total strangers stopped to take pictures of our castles. A great afternoon that I would highly recommend for anyone who wants to learn how to become the star of the beach!

This was a GREAT experience! My wife and I along with her family (6 adults, 3 kids) were able to learn about making sand castles. Although JT was previously booked, we worked with Jillian, one of his associates who was excellent. She did a great job managing both the kids and the adults and keeping us all very entertained. We varied in ages, with adults in their 20s, 30s and 50s and kids under 10 and as young as 2. We were able to separate and have a kids castle and adult castles so that everyone was able to be as detailed and involved as they wanted. Jillian even adjusted and helped us make a dragon when one of the kids mentioned it. A great family outing and it would also be a fun time with just a couple.

When visiting San Diego, one goes to the zoos, Sea World, etc. But if you want something to really talk about, have JT give you lessons in sand-based civil engineering. This is one activity that you won't likely forget. Perfect strangers asked to take pictures of the whatever it is that we built or just stop and marvel at our handiwork (our = us + JT).
