Description: The Venetian’s award-winning Italian cuisine (including what critics call some of San Diego’s best pizza), relaxed setting and casual atmosphere have earned generations of fans since Vince Giacalone first welcomed customers in 1965. Sons Joey and Frank proudly continue their family traditions, making sausage, soups and sauces from scratch and drawing a devoted, all-ages clientele. Highlights of the menu include bruschetta, seafood pastas, chicken and veal piccata, and thick- or thin-crust pizzas with either traditional or trendy toppings. Located in Point Loma, The Venetian’s friendly service and “Cheers” style vibe make it a favorite destination for date night, happy hour, dinner with friends or family celebrations. Seating includes the lively bar and patio (great for families and larger parties); comfy booths and banquettes; and a private wine cellar that can be reserved for parties of up to 16. Dinner nightly; lunch Monday-Friday; Sunday brunch; full bar.

“Delicious Italian Food - Great Family Atmosphere”
Reviewed 27 October 2011

We've eaten at the Venetian many times and have recommended it to family and friends who all rave about the food. Their marinara sauce is divine and their pizza is out of this world! The restaurant is hidden in a Point Loma neighborhood but there is plenty of parking behind the restaurant and it's always busy because locals love to eat there too. The service is good - even when it's crowded and we love Julie the bartender on weekends. I guarantee you will love everyhing on the menu - great variety and old world italian family recipes. It does get loud because of all the people so I have to warn you if you're looking for a nice quiet meal. But if you're looking for a fun, lively restaurant with some of the best italian food in San Diego then this is the place!

“Dynamite pizza”
Reviewed 23 October 2011

The Mediterranean Pizza is absolutely the best. All ingredients are fresh and so flavorful. The Ceasar Salad is great with a lot of garlic to keep the angel if death away. Pours of wine by the glass are generous and not over priced! Great restaurant!!

“Looking for the best pizza in San Diego?......You just found it!”
Reviewed 19 September 2011

It's thick, fresh, hot, heavy with cheese, and squirts juices when you bite into it, Folks, it don't get any better than this. The Venetian is a family-owned and operated neighorhood restaurant that has been a local favorite for decades.

While I do patronize chain Italian places....think Olive Garden.... they connot duplicate the charm and authenticity of this mom & pop tucked into a residential area near Point Loma High School.
.
I like everything on the menu, but the pizza is king. If you like torpedo sandwiches, try the traditional Venetian torpedo......served on a hot toasted roll, and loaded with juicy italian meats under melted cheese. Order a beer, and it will come in a cold quart bottle accompanied by a chilled mug. Perfect for folks who love beer with their Italian, and are not satisfied with a skinny little glassful. Also, there's a full bar for those in the mood for something stronger.

“Great atmosphere, wonderful food at reasonable prices”
Reviewed 7 June 2011

My husband and I first found this restaurant while watching a local PBS show and knew we had to try it. The steamed clams in broth are fabulous. The lasagna is excellent as is most anything on the menu. We had my husband's 60th birthday party there and all of our guests loved it and raved about the food. Everything from the antipasta, to the pizza, to the seafood pasta dishes are great. Excellent prices as well. One of the owners, Joey, is warm and gracious to all of his guests and the servers are great as well. It has certainly become one of our favorite places for homemade italian food. Most entrees are big enough for sharing.

“yumm...that's all there is to say!”
Reviewed 9 March 2010

My uncle took me here, which automatically means it will be good, and we will get crazy. The server was really nice, even though we were loud and annoying, as usual. We got some wine, which was really good, and everybody got different dishes. I got linguine in a white sauce which was amazing! Sooo soo good, and I'm not the biggest fan of Italian either. I think the bill was about 100 bucks, which isn't too bad for wine, app, and entrees (there were 4 of us). I know everybody enjoyed it and left stuffed! We were definitely still talking about it the day after. Go!
