We went on a 40-minutes-Biplane flight. It was just awesome! It's at a very good price and absolutely worth it!!!

Booked a 40 min flight as a surprise for my girlfriend on the strength of all the good reviews on TA. As a bit of an aircraft enthusiast, this was a great way to get an alternative view of the San Diego coastline and a much more visceral experience than the normal helicopter tours you can go on.

Some tips before you go:

We couldn't see the office building when we got to the sat nav destination, but Barnstorming are based in the building at the edge of the airside, just look for the neon sign of the bar/mexican restaurant on the square building and they are on the left hand side once you go into the buiding.

Outside the slipstream of the cockpit windscreen gets very cold, so wrap up warm and don't wear a baggy jacket, or it will be flapping like a kite once you are airbourne!

I took an action camera and a CSC camera up with me, but again, once you stick anything out from the slipstream, hold on tight to it as it gets real windy. Still managed to get some great shots, but you need to be careful.

The cockpit is pretty snug, so make sure you are on good terms with your co-flyer, as there's not much room to put your feet up once you're barreling down the runway. It's also pretty noisy, but you get a canvas flying helmet and a headset and it's pretty cool listening to the pilot/tower chatter which makes it feel even more "real".

Thanks to Bonnie and Travis for a great friendly trip we'll remember for a long time.

This is definately a great place to take a flight. The owner and pilots are awesome. Very informative and generous. This past weekend I surprised my husband with a fly-it ride for his birthday. he was hesitant to accept but then took it for a spin. Needless to say, he was very happy and didnt regret it one bit . This is probably not a once in a lifetime experience but a beginning to something new. There are many different options so we will be back.

What a great experience. 40 minute flight for two in the 1927 bi-plane. After safety checks and a quick briefing, you head off into the blue. Well, first you head over the many commercial areas, freeways and neighborhoods... but then, you see an exceptional view of the Pacific - white rolling waves, cliffs, beachside scenes, kelp in the clear blue waters. Surfers, kayakers and sail boats. From Cabrillo Monument, past the National Cemetary, over the Naval Base (got to see Submarines), onto the Pacific Coast, Torrey Pines, La Jolla and beyond. Great service. Beautiful experience.
