“Watch out for room 123”
Reviewed 7 February 2012

My wife and I booked a king partial-view room through Best Western's website. There was indeed a view of the ocean from the sliding glass door as long as no one was standing on the landing next to the pool. What we didn't notice until nightfall was a sustained rumbling coming from the vending machine / washer-dryer / ice machine room on the other side of the wall. We thought the noise came from the ice machine and asked the managers to do something about it. They finally turned it off at 10:45 pm. But the rumbling continued. It turned out to be a large fan in the wall that apparently had something to do with the ventilation system. Management said they had no other room to offer us so we had a fitful night despite earplugs.

We spoke to the manager the next day and she offered to take $50 off the bill. Blue Sea Lodge may be a fine place to stay, as other reviewers have said. Just don't let them put you in room 123.

Dear JosephQ,

Thank you for taking the time and submitting your comments on Trip Advisor. I do want to apologize that we were unable to deliver on a good night sleep for you and your wife due to the noises you encountered. I have followed with our enginerring department to ensure that the items you mentioned are addressed. Room 123 is peculiar due to its location. There are some guest that repeatedly request that room primarily due to its location to the pool and jacuuzi.

Please contact me the next time travel brings you to San Diego and rest assured that I wll provide you with accommodations that will surpass your expectations.

JosephQ, thank you again for your comments and I, as well as the entire Team at the Blue Sea Lodge, look forward to you and your wife staying with us again.

Have a Great day!

My wife and I had the BEST stay at the Best Western PLUS Blue Sea Lodge. The staff was so welcoming and made us feel like family. We enjoyed our ocean view balcony and great sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. I'd suggest splurging and going for a suite! Can't wait to get back to the Blue Sea Lodge.

Room Tip: Top Floor Suites are the best!

Dear Bailey1410,
Great Review! Thank you for the kind words. We do strive to make all of our guests feel at home and I am glad that we were sucessful in making you feel "like family". I would have to agree with you, the sunsets are beautiful and yes, more enjoyable when you are sitting in the comfort of your own chair in an ocean front room!

Thank you again for your review and we look forward to you staying with us again.

Have a great week!

Little do you expect what awaits on the inside when you pull into the parking lot. That all changes once you walk inside. The builing is very clean and fresh and offers great views of Pacific Beach. The staff is helpful and considerate. There are shops and bars seconds away, yet the crashing waves void out the sound of the music and people. It was a refreshing way to end each of my work days. Thank you.

Dear Aquaregia,
Thank you for the great review! I am glad to hear that our staff was helpful and considerate. We place a great emphasis on providing great customer care to our valued guests like yourself. I could not agree with you more on a better way to end your work day than opening your sliding door and viewing and listening to the waves crash.

Thank you again for your great review and we look forward to you staying with us the next business brings you back to San Diego.

Let me just start off by saying I am in my late twenties, very outgoing during the day, and enjoy getting out at night.

This hotel was very well kept, has a good helpful staff, and is perfectly situated at the beach. I spent over a month researching the different hotels in the areas based on price, reviews, and location. The price was actually negotiated lower over the phone by about 17% as well as getting a free night of parking thrown in ($10 value). The bars/clubs are about a 10 minute walk away on Garnet Ave. There seemed to be a mixed age group of guests - nobody complained about our 2am return. Our room was in pretty good condition. There were efforts to upgrade some amenities like fridge, microwave, AND a nice flat screen TV, but other amenities were just average... which was fine by me! NO bugs or anything like that. Clean sheets/towels.

Room Tip: North facing side of hotel for "Partial Ocean Views."

Just can't describe the beautiful view from our room. You have to go there and experience it. Located on the beach and in front is a paved walkway for miles to shopping, restaurants, bars, etc. Staff was friendly - room was comfortable - GREAT location and vacation. Thank You!!

Room Tip: Spend the couple bucks extra and get a waterfront view!!

It is a great location. The hotel was clean, people helpful, quiet location. Great views and walking/riding area. I went with my 2 daughters ages 14 and 22. We had a great time. The only bad thing was paying for parking(at hotel), not sure why you have to pay, they have a nice sized parking lot, may be more crowded in summer months.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view or a partial view..early risers can watch surfers.
