As many have mentioned parking is a problem. First room we were given the a/c did not work properly. Manager asked if we wanted to move. We were moved to a new room & the a/c was not very good in that one either. We did not want to move again so we stayed in the room. Manager said the system is old & is confusing for guests to operate. Room was clean. Could use an overall updating.

Visited this hotel April 28-30. We needed accommodations quick and for a group of 5. Needed something economic and with plenty of room for all of us. This hotel defiantly met those needs. A bedroom with two full size beds bathroom and living room.
The staff was very nice and courteous. I will admit they do need some updating as the walls are paper thin and if you get stuck facing the interstate you will here traffic all night long.
The biggest issue we had was the first night as the room above us had small children who ran and jumped all night long. Needless to say we got no sleep. Thankfully the next morning they were able to move us to the 4th floor. We definitely slept much better that night. Breakfast was decent, but we ended up eating at Jack in the box instead.
If we are ever in the area I may consider staying here again.
But be forewarned it is not fancy at all.

We stayed here two nights (4/19-4/20). It was a disappointing experience. It started with the check in which took 45 minutes! Systems problems was the explanation provided after waiting in line for 20-25 minutes.

Room was reasonably clean, but showing a lot of wear. Was worried about the noise since our room was located near the freeway but with the doors closed the sound was well muffled.

The room was hot and stuffy and we were unable to get the a/c to work. The thermostat would only accept 79 degrees! Given the late hour we did not call the problem in and just suffered through an unpleasant night. On the way out the following morning we reported the a/c problem and was told that somebody would attend to it immediately. Arriving back at the hotel late we found the a/c was not fixed. It continued to pump out 79 degree air!

At this point I should mention that we were in room number 302. If you were to check the previous review of this hotel from one month ago, you'll find that the reviewer was also placed in room 302 and experienced the same problem with the air conditioning. In their case the solution was to move them to another room. Interestingly, the reviewer went on to rate this hotel five stars??

On our return we also discovered that the maid service was not performed. The beds were not made, and the bath towels were not replaced (although the used towels were removed??). Other than the bath towels being removed there was no evidence anybody had been in the room.

Parking is very limited. One evening we were forced to park in the Denny's parking lot.

Bottom line. I cannot recommend this poorly managed hotel.

Ted,

Allow me to apologize on behalf of our hotel for failing to meet your expectations on your recent visit. I have shared your feedback with our management and maintenance to ensure we handle these types of situations differently in the future.

The issues regarding the A/C units was successfully identified and repaired.

Again, thank you for your time and valuable feedback. We sincerely appreciate it and hope you will give us another chance to provide you with superior service and accommodations on your next visit to San Diego.

On a recent visit to Balboa Park, we stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel shares the same parking lot with a Holiday Inn Express so it can get full. It's a clean place but definitely in need of updating. The suites have 2 rooms, a living room with tv and bedroom with tv. Small bathroom which could use updating. The thermostat took some time figuring it out. There is a small fridge and coffee maker in the room as well. They have a happy hour Monday thru Thursday where hotel guests can have 2 complimentary beers or glass of wine. After that there is a charge. Their breakfast had waffles, eggs and sausage as well as juices, fruit and pastries. Quiet at night and bed comfortable. Small pool area. And a short drive to Balboa Park if you're visiting.

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room

The facilities were not well kept. I agree with another reviewer that our room smelled poorly. The condensation from air conditioner had left water stains on the ceiling in our room. Our stay was also affected by the enormous number of construction vehicles that blocked all of the parking spaces, limiting where we could park. The construction crew were obviously staying at this hotel and working elsewhere because there wasn't any construction activity going on at the facility. We were also disappointed at the other clientele on site who were very loud in the pool area until the early morning hours, with the constant waft of cigarette smoke throughout the walkways and courtyard. Construction workers smoking and drinking beer in the parking lot every afternoon. If you are looking for a value and not fixed on quality or amenities, this may be the place for you.

Room Tip: If possible, not sure it is, suggest a room away from the interior courtyard.
