Our family was spending the night in Torrey Utah after touring Grand Staircase-Escalante Monument and the Butt Trail Rd from Boulder Utah to Notom Utah. Torrey is just west of Capitol Reef National Park and this was a great relaxing stay. The hotel is new, and they are expanding again. The pool and spa were great. However, the exercise room was not complete at the time of our stay. The beds are comfy. rooms spacious.

Room tip: 2nd floor would be quieter and with better views.

This is a comfortable place to stay while visiting some of the national parks in the area. Rooms are clean and comfortable. There is an indoor pool/spa and a modest size breakfast room and sitting room area. Self-serve breakfast. Be aware that there are no elevators (but an extension is being built that will have them in the future), so ask for first floor room if you have difficulty with stairs. Although it is right off a highway, it's quiet and peaceful - backs up to a farm/pasture - a good spot to go outside and see the stars without interference from other lights. Bus tours stay here sometimes, which could affect room availability and busy-ness of hotel.

Room tip: No elevators as yet.

One night stay during drive to Zion National Park. Clean, welcoming, good bedding, quiet and good breakfast. Manager/owner was helpful but not intrusive. Given my experience with hotel/motel waffle machines it was welcome to have mix pre-poured into cups and a clear explanation on how to proceed with making a waffle. Would return again.

It is located right off the Hwy 12 Scenic Byway Road. The staff are very friendly and helpful-- gave recommendations to sights to see. The complimentary breakfast assortment was nice with choices of hot items as make your own waffle(s) and eggs and sausage. The only problem was that the hot water button was out of commission but the breakfast room staff were more than helpful to assist us.
This hotel is a bit on the older side but everything was in good working condition. The internet connections were good. They offered an opt-out to change towels everyday option by placing a "Do Not Disturb" sign outside the door. The view outside our 1st floor room offered a great morning view of the nearby farm with a large pasture of 4 grazing horses. Nice to have such a view rather than a busy city street full of traffic and people rushing to work. Great to choose Red Sands Hotel if you plan to stay overnight while visiting Capital Reef National Park which is only about a 10-15 minute drive from here-- very convenient!

Room tip: Back rooms face the farm with horses grazing

Torrey seems to be going the same way as Page or Kanab, prices are going up up up. I was quite surprised at having to pay $135 for a standard room at the Red Sands Hotel whereas I had never paid more than $100 at other hotels in Torrey before but I guess that's the way it's going to be in all towns located near National Parks and other natural wonders.
Despite the high rate, I did have a pleasant stay at the Red Sands. Staff was nice and attentive, the room was large and comfortable (wonderful mattress!) but a bit dated. The wallpaper around the window was coming off and it was obvious that this wasn't a new development so a little bit of tlc wouldn't hurt.
What you should know is that there is no elevator to get to the second floor - no problem for me but people with mobility issues might want to pick a room on the ground floor. However, the lady at the front desk told me that they are expanding the hotel and will add an elevator at some point in time.
