Asian inflected shabby chic very artfully implemented. I don't love the distressed look but my wife does and in any event we both agreed it was artfully implemented - think of it as the hotel equivalent of one of those pairs of carefully shredded, acid washed designer jeans. The pool/gym/spa space is very lovely, as is the calm/relaxing drawing room lounge-bar space. The location is excellent in a relatively quiet area one block from the west side waterfront promenade. Battery Park is a scenic two mile jog south along the attractive waterfront promenade. Lower Manhattan tourist sites are all fairly close. Not too convenient for tourists seeking to visit upper Manhattan sights, however. Very friendly, motivated staff. We booked last minute and took the one "standard" room that opened up due to a cancellation. Next time we go we will try to plan more in advance and get one of the corner suites or such that seem significantly more spacious than the standard rooms.

Always great to read such wonderful and understanding reviews - that shabby chic look lets you just sink right in and feel completely at home.
We all love Tribeca - away from the crowds, in the middle of one of the most sophisticated residential areas of the city but within easy reach of everything that Manhattan has to offer.
Hopefully we will be able to welcome you back very soon.
With kind regards

The Greewich is a toney boutique hotel in downtown Manhattan. Co-owner Robert De Niro went for a "sophisticated European country house look." Lots of old looking furniture and creaky, hardwood floors. If they were trying make this hotel seem like it's been around since before American Express, they certainly succeeded (I heard it's only 8 years old). My room was quite comfortable although a bit small (but then most NY hotel rooms are small compared to other places). Although the large and well appointed bathroom made up for whatever the room lacked in size and savoiur-fare.

Speaking of the bathroom, the front desk and bell staff made a huge deal about being extremely careful when filling the bathtub with water. They gravely warned that it only takes 60 seconds to fill the tub. I guess they're afraid their hardwood floors will get soaked if left unattended. Anyway since the tub appeared to be at least two feet deep, I thought I would test the supposed one-minute fill rate. I turned the water on full blast as I started my iPhone stopwatch. After exactly 60 seconds, the tub was maybe 1/3 full. Oh well, better to err on the conservative side.

This is a very cool, private, quiet hotel. And pricey - but hey, Robert De Niro owns the place. How cool is that?

Thank you so much for your kind review and delighted that you enjoyed your visit.
You are correct that 60 seconds for tub to fill with water is a slight exaggeration but it is very quick and you would be surprised how many people walk away and allow the tub to overflow, so we do feel that at least it makes people think about it!
Hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back at some point soon
Kind regards

Have been staying at this hotel for a few years now, still as good as it was the first time.Staff are about as good as it gets at a hotel. If you had to criticize anything probably would be the restaurant set up for breakfast ,ok in the summer as you can sit outside in the courtyard,I personally don,t like the adjacent restaurant, much too noisy and the menu
seems to have been been the same for years, but it is always packed.Want a plate of spaghetti and simple sauce, don,t think so
The rooms are a bit spartan by some standards, but the whole place is a bit like being at home, health club and pool very good.Get a room with a bath tub, also the beds are the best.Great mixture of clientele
Expensive hotel, even for New York though
Get what you pay for i suppose
go there and enjoy it

Thank you so much for your review and your kind words are certainly appreciated.
The Courtyard is certainly a great place to take breakfast and we do miss it in the winter. Locanda Verde is a very popular restaurant and certainly buzzy and very busy but completely understand that peace and quiet is to be treasured. During the winter it is possible to have breakfast in the Drawing Room and in the Colonnade which are areas just for hotel guests. The breakfast menu is still very popular but we do understand that over the years it can become too familiar
Hope to welcome you back again soon

This charming hotel in lower Manhattan ticks all the boxes. An oasis from the traffic outside, it feels more like an upmarket British country manor than a New York City hotel. The extra touches really make the Greenwhich, from the crackling fireplace in the guest lounge, the used books stacked on the shelves, the free mini-bar (excluding alcohol), a candy basket that is magically refilled each morning and the effortless service. Our room was quiet and homey, a spectacular bathroom, and a sofa so comfortable you could sink into it for hours reading the New York times and watching the traffic on the street below. The Japanese-inspired pool in the basement is large enough to swim laps but the zen-like atmosphere is more attuned to floating on your back and contemplating the world. Ran out of time to spend in the lounge/bar/restaurant but managed to squeeze in the ricotta pancakes for breakfast at the concierge’s recommendation. The lightest and fluffiest pancakes I’ve had. The last reviewer summed it up: "effortless style".

There's an effortless style to this hotel that is truly rare, comforting, and I'm sure actually requires a lot of attention to detail from the staff. The service is as warm as it is impeccable. The location is a delight of course but better for a downtown-centric stay. Simply said, it's the kind of place you choose if you want to feel like a local with all the amenities of an out of town guest.

Thank you so much for your kind words - delighted that you enjoyed your visit and appreciated the hotel so much.
Tribeca really is a great part of Manhattan - it is easy to take a cab to mid town and the subways serve this area very well.
