OK the whole place is being rebuilt and will be ready for the summer of 2018. Still worth going by if you have some time there is about 4 blocks of things to do, cafe's etc. Cant wait until its done!

For anyone interested in buying tickets to a broadway show, there's a TKTS booth at the South Street Seaport, that rarely has any lineups, is open earlier than the one in Times Square and the area is a great destination to shop, eat and take some great shots of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Bull in the Financial District. Worth every New York minute saved not waiting for the Times Square booth to open!!!

Went during a Good Friday trip to the city. Most things were closed and not many people around at all. It's pretty though.

The South Street Seaport takes you back to the glory days of sea travel. We took a tour of the Wavertree and our tour guide, Rachel, gave plenty of information about the ship, leaving no questions unanswered. Overall, I'd recommend this tour for any lover of nautical history.

The South Street Seaport was an enjoyable experience for a scholar of history such as myself. The Seaport is a small area in the lower east side of Manhattan that has a rich history. The buildings and street are from the early days of America, but now the buildings are filled with quaint little shops and great restaurants. There is also a small museum that tells the story of the historical harbor. The highlight of the museum is the Wavertree. The Wavertree is a restored cargo ship from the 1800's. On the ship you get to see the lives of the crew and captains. You even get to use some equipment the crew used.. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to the South Street Seaport and the Wavertree.
