you can only visit with a booked tour, but it's worth it. the building is lovely, in a beautiful park by the East River. the tour guide was very knowledgable and enthusiastic. the furniture and decoration is in excellent condition. have a walk along the river through Carl Shurtz Park afterwards.

The governor's mansion was easy to visit, I had no difficulty booking tickets. The tour size is small, the house itself interesting, and the grounds are lovely. It feels like a brief escape from the city, and a step back to an earlier New York.

I enjoyed it very much.

The view from the deck of the East River is wonderful. Worth the 7 dollars fee. The house is breathtaking...I could move in.

Gracie Mansion is open on Wednesdays to the public for about a 45 minute tour. Reservations need to be made and can be made on the internet - - very reasonable - $4 for Seniors. This is the official residence of the mayor of NYC - and used primarily for public functions. A lot of history attached - located on the East River @ 88th Street. A nice park adjacent and you can walk along the river.
