Stunning architecture and design. One of many very beautiful churches in downtown Manhattan. Worth a look.

I commend anyone traveling to New York to visit Saint Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue. The neo-Gothic architecture is exquisite. The choir of men and boys is sublime. For Anglican tradition at its best, take time to walk in the space to take a break from the day, enjoy Evensong as if you were in England, and/or worship at Sunday Eucharist.

I had heard the music was good here - but it is phenomenal. We went to the 8AM Easter Sunday service and were so happy we had made the effort. The boys and men choir was amazing.
The brass ensemble took our breath away -- and all accompanied by the fabulous organist. The church is beautiful and the service was lovely. If you're Episcopal, come to church here. If you're not, come anyway. Attend any musical event here you can - you won't be disappointed.

Don't just visit this church, impressive though it is. Make sure you attend choral evensong at 5.30pm most days. Choral evensong is one of the highlights of the Anglican cathedrals and Episcopal churches but to hear it sung at St Thomas's Church is to ascend to another level. You will be transported from your seat to another time; to the medieval monasteries where this service was one of the daily obligations. There's not much congregational participation in the service. Just sit and listen to the wonderful polyphony and be enraptured.

St. Thomas is a superb institution for Anglican mass in its most traditional and celebratory style. Perhaps the best music, soon to have the best pipe organ, it also has one of the few remaining Choir Schools, so men & boys choirs plus organist and brass and tympani produced a unique & memorable Easter celebration.
