Whether your first visit to Broadway or frequent visitor this tour was very interesting. Tim, our tour guide, was both able to fascinate us with tales of the history of theatres that I've walked by many times but also fascinated us with stories of the theatre world in general. Tim's passion for all things Broadway and all things theatre come through in such a manner that you can't help to find yourself engrossed as he discusses the specific theatres in detail. Tim had a thoughtful and knowledgable answer about every question we could ask and we had plenty of questions. He was patient and genuine in all manners. Tours are as much about the subject matter as they are about the guide and in this tour you get both. From Anything Goes to Spider-Man from Avenue Q to Rent Tim was on top of it. And although I imagine there isn't much room for an average looking 30 something no talent guy in Broadway Tim even offered to put in a good word for me. Do yourself a favor and take this tour.

We had a thoroughly fascinating tour with Tim as our guide. He truly made the history of Broadway come alive for us. He shared stories of each theatre we passed on the tour and in such a way that made it interesting and engaging. It was a rather rainy day during part of the tour, but it did not dampen Tim's great enthusiasm or our interest. It was truly a highlight of our trip and we highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves the theatre and NYC.

In January 2012 we visited NYC for my 50th birthday. We managed to pack in 5 shows within 5 days; Book of Mormon, Other Dessert Cities, Anything Goes ....). We spent one morning with Tim Dolan the founder of "Broadway Up Close". This is was one of the best tours I have taken in a long time. Tim was very informative and passionate about Broadway and he made it all come alive. If you are interested in theater and have a passion for Broadway this tour is not to be missed. As a "Tapper" Tim knew all the facets of the the theater business - he illuminates both sides of the stage lights. Not to be missed.

A fantastic tour from a brilliant tour guide. Tim is not someone who has learned a bunch of facts then repeats them 'parrot fashion'. He is a working actor sharing his love and passion!! He knows his stuff ;) He will tell you about the history of the theatres and some incredibly interesting tales about the people who have owned, restored and worked in them, all whilst showing you the most beautiful buildings. The time flies by - even in the freezing cold! I would urge anyone to take this tour - you will not be dissappointed!! It was one of the highlights of our visit. Thanks Tim xxx

What a wonderful way to learn about Broadway in the Big Apple!! My daughter and I took this tour while she was home from her college break, and this tour seemed a perfect way to spend mother-daughter time together. Tim, our fantastic tour guide, was friendly, witty and wonderfully charismatic while sharing lots of fun facts, history, anecdotes and a ghost story or two. Tim's passionate, expansive knowledge of the theater world - both on stage and off - certainly makes for one of the best NYC walking tours. This is a tour which every New Yorker or tourist, theater and non-theater goer should not miss and is for anyone who enjoys any aspect of theater or who just wants to learn more about the Great White Way. Absolutely worth the time and price of your ticket - one of the best acts on Broadway! Wish there was an Act II.
Thanks Tim and Broadway Up Close Walking Tours!
