“Hidden Gem - Prohibition style cocktail bar”

We discovered the existence of this hidden gem through taking the audio guide tour of Grand Central Terminal. This was the apartment of one of the original shareholders, John Campbell, and it is maintained as it would have been when he stayed there.
It is accessed from outside the Terminal and it would be easy to miss. Look for the red awnings.
This is a great cocktail bar with a good choice of well-made drinks. They're not cheap but as treat I can highly recommend.
I would not recommend eating here. We had a grilled cheese sandwich and a lobster roll and whilst they were very tasty they were very over-priced for what they were.
The ambience is speak easy, prohibition style and in the lamp lit gloom you would never know it was sunny outside.
Unusual and worth a visit if in the area for a nice cocktail.

Had always had a soft spot for the Campbell apartment and was delighted to see that it had reopened so decided to gove it a visit on a trip down memory lane
The positives are still the very friendly staff and the absolutely
lovely venue which is still incredible
Noticed however that the cocktails while nice are extortionate and the wine list while small was also extremely expensive sigh the cheapest bottle around $70
Still worth a visit though

Terrific views and great cocktails! I heard it is one of the greatest pubs in the US. I agree! A place to return...

Overpriced cocktails in a handsome setting just about sums this place up. We'd tried to come here before on it's previous incarnation without success so on our final night in New York we sought out the Campbell for a final night cocktail treat. That was the first test. Although we vaguely remembered where it was it took us a while to find it and we had to pass through two sets of doors to secure entry. It has to be said that the sad mess of a deserted bar area between the two sets of doors was somewhat off-putting. No clue what was going on there. At 9 pm on a Sunday night it was very quiet so we were seated immediately. Cocktails were served promptly and, whilst ok, were nothing memorable. I've had better in a Marriott hotel lounge for a good deal less moolah. Nonetheless, the room was nice and the chairs comfortable. And that's about it. Don't know what all the fuss was about. I'd come back if I could be bothered.

Do a little reading and understand the history of this beautifully restored room in Grand Central Station. It's extremely expensive but a great place to stop by and have a drink...and they are excellent. The place is very cool. Just a heads up that we had our teenagers with us. We stopped in around 4pm. I don't think they would be allowed in much later than that.
