“Simple hotel with everything you need.”
Reviewed 17 December 2011

Had a great stay at the best western for four nights! Complimentary breakfast was gorgeous loads to go around and eat as much as you want! Staffing was brilliant and a great help especially manager Annie and Mike. Rooms are very simple but very clean with a television and heating. Maids come in everyday. Overall great stay would recommend to anybody even the area of hotel not far from times square on the hop on hop off tour bus.

Best location if you are attending an event in Jacob Javits center. It is literally right outside. The rooms are typical NYC rooms small but functional. The price you pay is worth it if you are just there for business. I would definitely stay here again if I have a convention to attend to. Breakfast is merely basic. But atleast its free. Elevators were not working day we were to check out but the front desk lady let us check out late so we can leave our bag in our room til we get back.
Small hotel but does the job!

Room Tip: dont get a higher floor as there is not much view. lower your floor you can walk up and down without...

It's not the Ritz! However, it's a good clean place to sleep. The staff were very helpful. And what more can you ask for when you're just a few very short blocks to Times Square. It's an older hotel tucked away so be careful not to miss it on your first drive by. A bit of pain to get back to it with all the one way streets. Most comfortable bed we slept on the whole trip although the room was a bit tight. But hey who cares? You're here in New York to see the sights not hang out in a home.

Dear Soudini,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor regarding your stay at the Best Western Convention Center, NYC. I must agree our staff is very helpful, that is why they have been employed with us for a very long time. Again, I must agree that are beds are very comfortable and provides you with all the rest you need after a day of the constant mental stimulation that NYC has to offer.
We hope that the city was all that you expected.
When you come back to NYC please let us know so that we may thank you in person. We are glad that you found our quaint "tucked away" hotel which provides you with all of the hospitality services that Best Western has to offer.

well, what can i say, our family which was 2 adults and an 8yr old stayed at the best western w38 & 10th for 10 days in oct 2011.. this hotel was clean at all times, the room had 2 double beds, bathroom, television and coffee making facilities..
the room was ample size and very comfortable..
the hotel offered free continental breakfastwhich was aplenty from fruit to danish..free internet, morning papers and an ice machine..
nothing was too much for the staff..we would go back again and stay anytime..
one draw back was the train that ran under our window tooted from 7.15am on the hour..it would only bother someone who wanted a lay in...but who would want to miss a bit of this great city..

My mom had booked this hotel before we had talked about our options...and I was concerned when I saw the pictures and reviews, considering I am somewhat picky. However, I was very impressed with this hotel. It is definitely no-frills and small, but clean and comfortable. Any issues we had were addressed immediately.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is free, and the bagels and coffee were good. Also fresh fruit was available to grab and go for the day.
As long as you don't mind walking, the location is great...we walked from the hotel to our Broadway shows, Times Square, the Subway, etc. Everything you need is within a few blocks. And you are so close to the Harbour Tours! There's a Duane Reade a couple of blocks away which is great for drinks and snacks for your room. Also there is an Italian Restaurant (Il Punto) within a couple blocks that if you mention you are staying at this hotel, you get a 10% discount (...get the Pera salad mmmmm!)
We were 2 women travelling alone, and we felt safe walking around the area, even when we came back at midnight.
I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel - I thought it was great!

Room Tip: Not a lot of Room for hanging out just enough space to put down your bags and go see the town.

If you have a conference at the Javits Center then this is the hotel for you. This hotel is a great middle of the road place to stay. The staff is very courteous, the rooms are clean and decent size by NYC standards and the free breakfast is a great buffet with a wide variety of choices.

On the down side, you will have to walk about 13 minutes to get to a subway (8th Ave and 33rd St is probably the closest) and restaurants can be a bit of a hike. The neighborhood is not houses and shops, it's garages, bus parking areas, etc..but it's not dangerous and if you're there for a conference at the Javits, you can't beat it.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
