Great, eclectic atmosphere and excellent tapas. My wife and I shared 7 dishes and 2 deserts (maybe a little overkill) and everything was creative and different with a good level of spice and heat throughout. The highlight dish was probably the florida white shrimp in "agua diablo" with banana and almonds - a mix of fun and surprising flavors. Portion sizes were good for NYC tapas and the desserts were larger than expected (the chocolate peanut butter sundae with strawberry sorbet was on point). One dish to skip is the guacamole that was offered to us before we'd even seen the menu (As server is stepping away: "Some guacamole to start? Me: "Uhhh, sure?"). We noticed this happen to all the tables around us too. The guac is average and there were other "Snack" items we would have preferred to try. Our server was also not the most helpful or friendly (reason for only a "very good" rating), but the other staff was great and our interactions with our busser/food runner were much better.

Let me start with the atmosphere is lovely and reminiscent of ABC Kitchen. Love the style and love ABC Kitchen! The service was equally as good- if not too over anxious. Maybe this was my problem with ABC Cocina. We were a group of 12. We pre fixed a family style meal with multiple passed plates. My biggest complaint would be the kitchen and the servers had the timing all wrong. It felt like they were just throwing plates at us-to move the dinner and table along. It didn't feel like dining... more like power eating. The food was good... but it kept coming at such a rapid pace, you really couldn't enjoy it. So from my experience- don't do the family style, atleast not for a large group. I'm sure all of the food is good- but with the rapid fire attention we had, you just didn't have the chance to savoir it.

The decor and the level of tasty cuisine has not changed since its opening. Everything was well executed and full of flavor. Small plates meant to be shared. Not to be missed: the raw shaved fluke, the grilled maitake mushroom, the mezcal cured salmon and the shrimp in sizzling garlic and chili oil (skip shishito peppers, guacamole and fish tacos: you can have those anywhere else). Oh and the passion fruit tres leches cake is superb! (If you're a passion fruit lover, then this one is for you). The only minus was the staff: not particularly attentive, aloof attitude, needs a bit more polishing in the hospitality dept. and the other big minus for yesterday was the lack of liquor license... They're working on it, it should be resolved very soon, today/tomorrow. If that's a true concern for you, then call ahead.

The portion sizes are ideal for lunch. Restaurant week prices help to offset the cost otherwise this could be quite an expensive meal, especially for dinner. The chocolate and vanilla dessert was the highlight of the meal for me and I'm not usually a dessert fan!

Sat at the bar and was treated with some sampling of drinks throughout the night. The food was light (which is needed after a few days in NYC), delicious and we continued to order as we sat there. The pork tacos and fish tacos were our favorites.

Not sure if the same vibe would exist if you were sitting at a table, see if you can get a seat at the bar if there is only a couple of you there.
