Description: The Cupping Room Cafe was established in 1977. It was originally a wholesale coffee establishment. Different blends of coffee were brewed and tasted by perspective customers. This act of blending and tasting different coffees is called cupping - hence the name The Cupping Room. The coffee tasting went so well that the owners decided to change the name from The Coffee Connection to The Cupping Room Cafe. They also decided to open the back of the store and sell coffee and pie to the local artists. The building hosting The Cupping Room is a landmark building. It was the first "tall" building in SoHo and is more than 100 years old. The high tin ceilings, hard wood floors, pot-belly stove and exposed brick walls are all part of the original setting. The Cupping Room was a home for artists and locals. Today it is still a neighborhood place where you can see the locals and the famous come together in our homey environment.

If you want to feel like a local, I recommend the Cupping Room Cafe for breakfast: casual, tasty and good service. The owner talked to us and made us feel like we lived in the neighborhood.

“Our Favorite Breakfast in Soho”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2012

The Cupping Room makes their own pastries on site - so they are always fresh and delicious. They somehow manage to get fresh, flavorful fruit year round, and I love their eggs benedict and omelette menus - you can pretty much get anything you can dream up that falls under those two categories. The atmosphere is very SoHo, so it's a nice place to drop into while soaking up the neighborhood experience, and the wait staff is very nice. It's a family owned small business, and is a very warm and inviting place for a good breakfast.

“Nice Place To Eat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2012

Stumbled upon the Cupping Room looking for a place for lunch while walking around SOHO. Thought the food was good, reasonable priced and the service was friendly and attentive. Seemed like a good local/neighborhood place with regulars and tourists. Turkey burger was very good and they are not easy to do well. The rest of my party enjoyed their food as well. Atmosphere was friendly and like many palces in NYC it had great character.

“Cute atmosphere, average food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2012

My wife and I tried this restaurant whil in NYC over the weekend and is was just ok. The atmosphere was outstand and it was right in the heart of SoHo, so there were lots of shops and great charm. I would give this place another shot when back in the City.
