Fine & Schapiro is the real thing. So many of the traditional New York deli's have disappeared from the scene and that is why it was such a pleasure to come across this gem.
The seating is comfy -- New York neighborhood style (& nothing is faded here). Our service was so friendly and efficient. A mature woman not only took our order but chatted with us and made us feel at home throughout the meal.
While we waited for our deli sandwiches, a large plate of pickles and coleslaw arrived.
That was the start of the good flavor that lasted through all we had to eat.
I look forward to going back and trying the soups and many other dishes which I suspect are likewise excellent.

food is an expected and quality is OK. Just what we like, but not special. We often order delivery, which they handle promptly

Fine & Shapiro is one of the last remaining neighborhood Jewish deli restaurants in New York. The menu offers all the familiar comfort foods--corned beef, tongue, pastrami, derma, kasha knishes--that will warm the insides (and the souls) of old-time deli fanciers. All of it was very good, lots better than anything we've had in our home state (Arizona). Service was courteous and attentive. A limited number of wines and beers are available. Decor is dated, but comfortable. Very satisfying!

This is the only Jewish deli in the Upper West Side, and it's only a few blocks from Central Park. They serve sandwiches that contain only meat. I had a meatball hero sandwich as an entrée, and a piece of seven-layer cake for dessert. There was nice music in the background, and it played old Hebrew songs.

They make great corned beef sandwiches. And sensational stuffed cabbage. They are a bit dated but still have great food. The clientele is a bit older but still a great spot for the Jewish experience. Great meals and. Ignore the. Setting
