If you are close to Times Square then you must stop in and visit. It is FREE. The Church was founded in 1868 and is very historic with one of the finest Gothic architectures in NYC. Definitely worth a visit.

It is also a safe haven for the homeless so if you stop in and see any be sure to be thankful for what you have. And say a little silent prayer for those who don't.

Enjoy the pictures!

So close to Times Square, if you want a break in a truly lovely, peaceful setting, stop by here. When you enter, look up at the blue, star-studded ceiling. It's magical. Then take a seat or stroll around to look at the chapels. It will put you in the right frame of mind before you head back into the crowds.

You must visit this church. It is a hidden gem and worth a visit! Fantastic architecture. One of my favorite churches from this visit.

We have been here many times, usually to hear the Christmas Music provided by the Miller Theater. Most recently we were here last night to hear the Tallis Scholars sing Arvo Part, John Shepherd and parts of a wonderful medieval mass by Tallis. The concert was excellent and so was the church, which is quite high (the first church ever to be
constructed with steel beams) and also high in its affinity for things Catholic. Look around and there are confessionals, stations of the cross and one can imagine incense.

Don't let the scaffolding scare you away because this church is stunning inside. It's called Smokey Mary's because they use a lot of incense at mass, but it is a lovely respite if you're waiting for someone before a theater date or if you're staying at a nearby hotel.
