I am giving three stars: 1 for the amazing, show stopping performance by the Genie (Major Attaway), 1 for Jafar (Jonathan Freeman), and 1 for the amazing costumes and sets and the brilliantly done "Arabian Nights" and "Friend Like Me" songs. But the rest was easily just garbage and the biggest reason for that is that the current actor, Telly Leung, who plays Aladdin is just the poorest casting choice I have ever seen. He cant connect with the character, has poor chemistry, if any, with Jasmine (who is also just average btw), and worst of all, he has an extremely high pitched and nasal voice and so does NOT sound like Aladdin at all! I think this role just isnt for him! He and Jasmine just bombed and butchered " A Whole new World" which I was so looking forward to! I would advise to skip this and watch lion king or wicked instead, or just wait for the tour with Adam Jacobs to come to your town

We saw the show on Broadway, and it was really a fun show. The Genie steals the show. He is so funny and really interactive with the crowd. We had a great view from the second tier, and it was pretty interesting to see the mechanical aspect of the show happening as well. Along with the traditional storyline, they mixed in a lot of humor. We really enjoyed it.

A good show and the special effects were good (although you'd appreciate them more in the stalls as you can see how they work from the balcony). You spend a lot of time waiting for the gene and when he comes it wakes you up a bit but there are times when I could have dozed off but think that's more to story line than performers, Lion King is much better if you're stuck to choose between the two xxx

Performances :10/10
Stage: 11/10

My friend and I are the BIGGEST Disney fans so when we had the opportunity to visit NYC Aladdin was definitely on the agenda

We sat three rows from the stage and it was phenomenal. The acting was brilliant, music was magical and the stage was mind blowing

Bonus is that the actor who played Jaffar (one of the best villains in the Disney franchise) is the original voice from the animation which adds a touch of brilliance

So it's fair to say I'm in awe and would watch this over and over

Saw the Wednesday afternoon show of "Aladdin - The Musical" at the New Amsterdam theater. We also had a small 3 yo child, and picked the show especially for her, she was overjoyed and overwhelmed by all of the activity, bright lights, and actors. As adults we were also entertained by the costumes, and especially thought the performances by Genie, Jafar, and especially Iago were fantastic. The theater is also very much throwback in style to the early 1900's and we enjoyed the architecture on the inside of the New Amsterdam theater. Overall was very enjoyable and we had a good experience, especially our 3 yo.
