I went to see Denzel Washington's play and it was a nightmare. The seats are extremely uncomfortable, restrooms are in the basement and i was afraid about a potential emergency because there is only one way out.

The theater is not designed for tall persons. Theater was constructed in 1929. Added convenience was a restroom on the street level.

Old theater in the heart of the district. It's part of the Shubert organization and named after its past president. A century ago, when originated, it was known as the Royale. It's now showing a re-working of The Iceman - this production with Denzel Washington as the lead but, also, a strong ensemble cast. If you don't know this show, it has 3 major themes: pipe dreams, alcoholism, and death. Most of the play proceeds with point-counterpoint dialogue. And it's long. The staging and scenery are somewhat bland. But the lighting is bright. Much better than at the Met Opera. This version is just short of 4 hours with 3 fairly brief interludes. Maybe not enough time to finish up with your restroom retreat. Not very handicap accessible except in the orchestra. There's no elevator, but the climb to the upper seats is not too bad here. If you're coming to watch Washington, who was originally trained for theater acting, note that he doesn't appear until some 45 minutes into the play.

We came here to see the Iceman Cometh. Overall, the theatre was absolutely fine. Seats were somewhat comfortable. Legroom was a slight issue although it always is. The show was excellent and you should see Denzel act if you are a fan.

We attended The Iceman Cometh at the Jacobs Theater. It was a great performance! We had never seen it before and it was amazing to watch. The 10 minute intermissions are unfortunate. We are all paying a lot of money for the tickets and should not be stressed by the staff to rush around. Definitely was a downer for an otherwise great performance.
