DO you want your own private "club" in mid-town Manhattan? Small, elegant, service oriented, old world charm? Do you want to be welcomed & catered to like an owner and old friend, instead of hotel guest? Try the Elysee. They simply do it PERFECTLY!

We just returned from our third stay at our our favorite little New York hotel. The moment we arrived and were welcomed by the staff, we were so pleased that we had chosen this property again. We arrived very early and were invited to have coffee in the beautiful room on the second floor where complimentary breakfast, tea, and cocktails are served throughout the day. This little gem has the feel of a small intimate European hotel.

Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. We slept very well in our ninth floor room and we were not bothered by any noise.

The property is located on E. 54 street; between Park and Madison; perfectly situated for business, cultural events, shopping and dining.

We spent three nights in the hotel and can't wait to book our next trip.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Elysee. I wanted a small, gracious hotel with a good location, and that is exactly what we got! The breakfast was lovely, excellent fruit, breads and service, in a very relaxed setting that allowed you to linger if you so chose. The wine, cheeses and snacks in the afternoon were also a welcome diversion after walking the day away.
The service was competent, friendly and quiet. We will return when next in the city.

Room Tip: As we are light sleepers, I asked for a quiet room at the time of booking. We had no noise issues.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights, in part to celebrate our anniversary. We were given an upgrade when we mentioned our anniversary to the staff, and our room was beyond lovely. It was quiet, spacious and elegant. We enjoyed our time in in the hotel very much. In addition that, the staff were so kind. I called the front desk in total frustration at 1:00am, as we had spent over half and hour trying to hail a taxi, and were seemingly stuck downtown. Instead of hanging up on me or laughing at me, the gentleman at the desk gave me great advice on how to best find a cab, as well as a pep talk. When we finally made it back to the hotel, he then offered me some candy. Now that is service! We are really looking forward to staying at the Hotel Elysee again.

Room Tip: The suites are lovely, and the back side seems quieter.

Just returned from a stay at the Hotel Elysee and can't say enough about how comfortable, welcoming and sophisticated this hotel is. That begins from the warm welcome at the front desk as you check in, to the lovely rooms, and then in the morning you have a terrific continental breakfast where you can sit, read the paper or talk to other guests at the hotel if you'd like. This instead of paying $30-$40 for the same thing at other hotels in Midtown where I've stayed (and fumed). Free Wifi too. But then, coming home from a busy day of meetings, the hotel had a relaxing and lovely wine reception. I was in heaven.

The location is the best. We were able to do almost all our meetings by walking to the offices instead of hailing a taxi.

Another added charm is that most of the hotel personnel speak multiple languages so many of the hotel guests are from Europe and Asia. Oh, and did I mention that the famed Monkey Bar (from Mad Men) is within the hotel?

Most definitely, I will be returning to stay here when I come back to NYC. I highly recommend the place. Believe me, I have stayed at hotels all over Midtown Manhattan, and this may be the best.

Once you step into this place you feel like you're in the apartment of your rich, old Parisian aunt. Everything is decorated in a French chateau style, and the room even smells a little bit that way - in a good way. You may think everything looks really old, but on second look you realize its probably not and its all very well maintained and very clean. The room was big for New York, the bathroom clean and functional, but no tub just a shower. I had a partial view and the room was facing the back, so no street noise. My rate included breakfast and early evening wine and cheese snacks so overall it was a total steal. The place is somewhat upscale, and definitely for the older, more conservative set. No hipsters and party lounges here. Which is just fine with me. The staff is very friendly. Is this really the #5 hotel out of all Manhattan hotels on Tripadvisor? That seems a bit high, but it is a nice place never the less.
