The Iroquois is a boutique hotel that gets it right! While all boutique hotels claim to specialise in personalised service, stylish decor, great dining and a unique atmosphere, the Iroquois is one of the few that actually gets all of these things right.

I had been to New York before and as the hotel is right in Midtown I was expecting a tiny room with limited amenities. Boy was I wrong! We were upgraded from our King Premier room to a suite which was double-the-size of an already good-sized room. The suite included a large living room with two couches, TV, bar and desk and a bedroom with King-size bed and bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. The bed was well appointed with large, squashy pillows and pillow-top mattress akin to the ultra-comfy beds one finds at 5-star hotels. Bathroom amenities included Molton Brown accessories and nice quality towels.

Beyond the physical size of the room, I was impressed by the quality of the design. This is what a boutique hotel should be. Both the living room and bedroom had giant floor to ceiling windows and warm coloured tones in the furniture, window dressing and bed dressing. The couches, bed, and seats were all very comfortable. It was a wonderful cozy feeling to return to after a day of pounding the pavement sight-seeing in New York and considering the size, it felt incredibly luxurious and indulgent considering we were in the heart of Manhattan.

In addition to the room, I was very impressed with the service. One measure I always use for service in a hotel is whether all of the staff great you when passing (including housekeeping and doormen). The Iroquois certainly passed that test. Of course, evening turndown service is provided and doormen were quick to offer umbrellas when it rained. I must single out Vanessa, the concierge as superb and one of the finest and most efficient concierges I've experienced. Her Mexican restaurant recommendation was spot on and she never had to rely on books or maps to help us along the way. She is a true asset to the hotel and compliments its fine style and rooms.

One other surprise, was the quality of the dining. I'm not usually one for dining in hotel restaurants, but we looked up reviews of the Iroquois' French restaurant and they were very favourable, so on our first night we decided to give it a try. Again, excellent service and superb food all round. The bar too, has great reviews and was packed each night such that we didn't even try to go down for a night cap. Usually, in these small hotels, the dining and bar is seen as an after thought, but not at the Iroquois!

And finally, the location right in Mid-town is ideal for any tourists to the city. Located along a street lined with the private clubs of Ivy League universities, the Iroquois is a short walk from Times Square (and all the key subway lines), Broadway shows, Grand Central Station, Union Square, 5th Avenue Shopping and Central Park.

All in all, the Iroquois has to be one of my favorite surprise hotel finds on my travels. Very few properties can tick all the boxes from room, decor, service, dining and location but the Iroquois does it. Further, to find such a hotel where the atmosphere is so warm and service oriented in mid-town was a welcome surprise. I loved my stay here and could not find a single fault. I would not hesitate to return when I am next in New York and recommend it whole-heartedly for anyone looking for some luxury, great service and warm atmosphere in Midtown.

Room Tip: The Iroquois is on a busy street, so higher floors offer some quiet. Paying for a larger room is wor...

Great location and super helpful staff. Mark, the concierge was extremely helpful with all of our needs. Nice touch to come back from a long walk and have some fresh citrus water in the lobby. Would totally recommend this hotel for convenience, hospitality, and value. No view from room.

We recently stayed at The Iroquois for five nights at the end of June for my 18th Birthday. The hotel was fab. The lobby area was great. It was nice to come in after a long day of walking, grab a glass of citrus water they offered and head up to the room to relax and to get ready to go out to dinner. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We rang down almost every night for a bucket of ice and within minutes, a large bucket was ready for us at out room. The hotel also offers a DVD library service. There are nearly 200 films to choose from. It was great because they are free and handy especially if you like to watch the tv before you go out in the morning or before you go to bed a night. Vanessa (the concierge) was also great. If we told her where we wanted to go that day, she would plan it out, tell us the best way to get there and arrange any tickets needed for the attractions. She also convinced us to get the New York Subway which we thought would be complicated when in fact it was quite straight forward. The room we stayed in was The 'Superior Two Double Beds'. This room was located on the fourth floor and was lovely. Very quiet, however it was a little bit dark because of lack of lighting and the bathroom was a little bit on the small side. However the hotel was really well situated, very close to Times Square and Fifth Avenue. Overall a great hotel, would stay there again especially because of the location and the friendliness of the staff!

Room Tip: Rooms towards the back of the hotel are quieter because they do not face the street where all the tr...

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Iroquois and thank you for sharing your lovely experience you had with our chief concierge Vanessa, she is a great asset to our team!

I would like to apologize that the view from your room wasn't up to your standards. Unfortunately we are surrounded by much bigger office buildings, which causes us to have limited views. But we do offer different room catergories that offer more views then the others, such as our suites and deluxe king rooms that offer views of 44th street, which we are able to accommodate if available.

It would be our pleasure to welcome you back to the Iroqouis the next time you find yourself in New York.

The hotel is small and quiet it is close to Times Square and yet now right in the heart of it. I was able to walk to both of the shows that I saw without concern for safety. My room was comfortable and the staff was great. One of the doorman John was extremely kind and helpful. But I have to say that the concierge, Vanessa made my trip successful. She is knowledgable and always there to help. She would print out directions, make reservations for restaurants and excursions for me just go the extra mile to help you to enjoy your visit. She is a true professional. So if you decide to check into the Iroquois make sure that you speak with Vanessa.

First off, the staff here is one of the most friendly and professional staff of any hotel I have stayed at. Bill and Vanessa (concierge) were extremely friendly and helpful. Mark, the other concierge could stand to get some training on how to interact with people from Vanessa but everyone else was phenomenal. The rooms are small but very nice and clean. The location is one of the best in the city. You are literally blocks from many things including Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Broadway Plays, Empire State Bldg, and much more. WiFi, fitness center, etc included in your rate unlike many places that charge extra for the amenities. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor, north side. For a place as wild as NY we had no trouble sleeping. Heard...

The best thing about this hotel is the location, right in the center of Midtown. The decoration is classic, which also means the rooms may seem a little dated. The shower is in the bathtub with a big step - not so good for elderly people. Morning coffee available for free in the lobby. Nice staff. Good concierge service. Diners nearby. Overall, recommended!
