We stayed at the Carlyle because we were tired of the hustle and bustle of Midtown and were looking for something a bit quieter. The Carlyle certainly fit that bill. It was nice to return from a Broadway show or dinner and get away from the mobs of people. The residential streets of the Upper East Side were also a welcome change. Speaking of residential, the Carlyle itself is full of residents (perhaps 20 – 25% of the rooms are permanent residents). This fact makes the hotel feel more like a residence than a hotel. However, don’t be surprised when the elevator opens and a dog or two walks out! Speaking of the elevators, they are run by friendly white gloved operators.
Stop by the lounge area after a show and be sure and try out the 20 layer crepe cake!More
