My daughter and I stayed at the Edison for 3 nights while in town for one of the many Broadway shows. The hotel staff gets a big mention here.. They were all so great to us, made us feel welcome from the minute we pulled up outside, till the moment we had to say goodbye. Our room was comfortable, we had 2 queen size beds and there was plenty of room for all our things. I see most people comment about the bathrooms being small, but we had no issue with it. The beds were comfortable, the linens were clean, and the pillows were nice and soft. The location is superb! So many things within walking distance, but trust me.. you need more than 3 days to see it all! Thank you Hotel Edison for helping me make my daughter's dream come true, we will be back someday!

Room Tip: The Edison is in the process off doing some renovating to their rooms, so we made sure that we asked for one of them in our reservation.

The location can't be beat -- 3 subway lines within a block, close to theaters, up the block from TKTS and some great Irish pubs. The hotel is old, but clean and well maintained with small bathrooms, comfortable beds and very decent prices. I always feel safe when I'm at the Edison and can only conclude that it must be a great place to work since some of the staff have been there since my first visit in 1999.

The deli (next door to the hotel) is getting better every year -- a good spot for a quick, but cooked to order, breakfast before heading out to see the rest of the city. If you are looking for luxury this isn't your place, but if you want a comfortable, safe place to stay with easy access to everything the city has to offer, at a reasonable price, the Edison is perfect.

The Edison is always reliably clean, comfortable and affordable - an amazing thing for such a great location in Midtown. I've stayed at the Edison around 10 times and it never disappoints. The staff is always welcoming and professional, and the place has great character and history. The cafe is legendary and one of the very few remaining spots of its kind left in Times Square (the faded poster in the window is from a real Neil Simon play that recreated the cafe as the set for the Broadway stage). Many, many Broadway cast recordings have been recorded in the Edison's studio. The restaurant Sophia is a great old-style piano bar, and the Rum House is a terrific intimate bar by the elevators where I've spent memorable late nights with friends and new acquaintances. Those who prefer fancier rooms aren't taking full advantage of being in New York; the most important features for a room in New York are a good bed and a bathroom, and those are covered here. And even during the height of the City's bed bug epidemic which affected everyone, I never encountered a single one at the Edison.
I have a lot of affection for this place and its Deco style - especially as I've watched all the great (and some less great) spaces around it mowed down for new construction. If some rooms are outdated, they are probably soon to be renovated, since that work seems on a continuous cycle. Personally, I've been completely happy to be at the Edison every time.

Terrific place! location for shows is the best! Rooms a bit small, but who cares if you are going to be going to shows? Very comfortable king bed with nice linens- The Edison was a surprise to us, as we remember the days when this location was "iffy:. Walked to MOMA as well as to and from Grand Central, so no need for taxi. Will definitely return!!

Room Tip: if you are not fussy about room size , this is the place for you. great value and location
