There was an exhibit of an artist previously unknown to us, in both graphic and three dimensional media. The items were well displayed with sufficient space to see all of the three dimensional ones. It is a great place to visit while waiting for the theater production to start.

The website touts the museum's permanent collection - it is not open to the public. That is not mentioned on the website.

We went for nothing!

Thank you for your feedback. This museum itself is always free and open to the public during our operating hours. We do put our collection on display for the public but it is not a continual exhibit. Here at SUMA, we are continually showcasing different exhibits in order to bring more art into the area. We hope you can come back to visit sometime when we have our collection on display!

Small art museum. Stop in for a few minutes. It is free, so you can donate what you are able to for the museum. Nice stroll through trees just outside.

This place is too small to have a huge collection. But it is rare to find any small town in Utah with any Art Museum at all.
Admission is free and it is right next to the playhouses, so you can stroll through while waiting for a play to start. 10 minutes is adequate to see everything.

Beautiful, Spacious center. Art presented very nicely. Even more than one exhibit to add to enjoyment of various tastes. Knowledgeable, friendly staff who were willing to answer questions.

Free Entry and the nicest staff anywhere. The Museum is part of the Southern Utah University and so partners with the Shakespeare Festival. The staff can offer you history and background on many topics as well as showcase local area artifacts and art. It’s spacious and very welcoming. In the day we visited a local musical ensemble served up some wonderful classic music with great singing.

Having a museum on campus, next to the festival area is a great idea! It's free so the questions in this review about discounted pricing don't apply. It was wonderful to go in and enjoy some time cooling off while seeing great art pieces. James Surls has an exhibit there right now and it was interesting.

The back part of the gallery has a narrow area with a few things relating to the festival - books and one dress. I'd love to see more from Shakespeare plays on display - costumes, props, scripts, etc. The museum is right there next to the Randall L. Jones theater so it seems appropriate to showcase some theater elements.

There is an area for children to create or play. And the working part of the museum is showcased behind great walls of glass - really cool to see the storage/planning/creating area.

We will visit again!

In this day and age when renowned architects erect monuments to display their talent and ego, here is a structre which modestly and elegantly is designed to serve its purpose as a gallery and small museum in a state college.
The outside shape takes inspiration from the natural slot canyons of the region. Inside there is use of natural materials with excellent detailed wood work. The permanent tribute to Jimmy Jones and the changing exhibitions (we saw garduate students' works) are well displayed.
In summary, a pleasant visit

This is a delightful museum to visit for a quiet respite before or after a play. The exhibits rotate and offer an opportunity to see new artists and art. The permanent collection features many beautiful paintings of Utah and its glorious landscapes. The exhibit hall is new and inviting. GO!
