I loved this church. It is beautiful and historic, and the guide was very knowledgeable about the church history. I really enjoyed learning about who sat where, and that they paid for their pews. I highly recommend.

To be fair to them its free to get in and they only recommend that you donate five dollars per adult. I'd be struggling to see what you actually get for your cash though, unless you are a real church buff. There was one person on hand to ask questions, luckily it was nearly empty when we were there so got some questions in...but unless there are more when it is busy then it would be a bit of a free for all and you'd be scratching your head at much of what you were looking at. It's an important place though so no doubt if you're in town you'll go and see it - no harm in that.

Locatd in Downtown Philly stands this monument to the Founding Father's religious beliefs. A new organ was being installed during my visit. Maybe you will get lucky and be able to hear it being played.

Christ Church is known as the birthplace of the American Episcopal Church and is architecturally stunning in so many ways, among them the arches and large windows over the altar looking out into the old city. Chartered in 1695,with the church dating to 1744,it is known as the "Nations Church" and has hosted members of the Continental Congress, including Washington, Adams, Rush, Morris, Franklin etc.. It is the finest early American church and considered 1 of the finest Georgian structures in America. It is a privately managed historic site, but an official component of Independence Historical National Park. The steeple was built in 1754 and was the tallest structure in North America until 1810. It is an active parish and the church hosts daily historical talks and tours. They have an outstanding historic collection dating back to 1695 along with a rare book collection. There is a small graveyard surrounding the church with the church's larger burial site is 3 blocks west at 5th and Arch. While walking outside admiring the structure and the grounds, a gentleman came out of the church and talked with us for about 20 minutes about it's history and some great stories and historical incite, including a fascinating one on Alexander Hamilton's brother who was buried a few feet away. A few singers of the Declaration of Independence are also buried here. Do not miss.
