This is by far one of my favorite places in Philly. There is a lovely little demonstration garden by the arboretum and horticultural center (where you can find parking nearby and then walk over to visit the Shofuso Japanese House, for a fee).

A beautifully-designed park that's been used for many purposes over the centuries and is well-loved today. The green lungs of Philadelphia

I lived in the Fairmount neighborhood for 2 years and came to love this park. A recent visit showed it to be cleaner and better lit (very good things) and still charming. I had lived for years next to Prospect Park before I moved here, and while this was not its equal, it was still darn good.

the Fairmount Park lies on both sides of the river and is large. There are beautiful cherry and ornamental fruit trees . Do not miss the Shofuso Japanese House, The Please Touch Museum, The Boathouse Row, and the Skyline Drive. Also with a tour are the historical homes within the park

Sometime in Fairmount Park you really feel like you're not in the city. It's huge! Great place to see a concert. Great place to just bring a hammock and lie around. Great place to go sledding. Take a walk there!
