This bed & breakfast is one of a kind! The historic backdrop and stories of the inn make it an interesting place to stay and enjoy an evening. The breakfast was awesome!

Room Tip: Room 9 is for the avid sportsman! The rustic cabin atmosphere is quaint and relaxing!

Let me start by stating that I'm particularly picky. This place is outside of town, which means they have their own parking and it's quiet. The rooms are fairly spacious and comfortable and the Inn has it's own restaurant and a pub. We stayed in a newly built building so I can't speak for the rooms in the historic building. One thing I have to mention. Our room had bugs on the pillow. I mention this not to alarm anyone, because it was the service we received that rates so highly. These were not "bed bugs". We notified the staff and they responded immediately, apologized profusely, and showed us the remaining rooms for us to choose from. They even moved our luggage. Problems crop up from time-to-time. The service in dealing with the problem is the important part. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. One minor criticism is that while they have TV in the room, the channel option are extremely limited. I mean no ESPN or Weather Channel. Not that this is a deal breaker, but most places over far more channels. Maybe something for the owners to consider.

Room Tip: We stayed in a newly built addition that is separate from the historic building. The rooms clean an...

We stayed over in mid-November for two nights. Our room (10) was beautiful and had a working fireplace to chase away the chill. We ordered food from the restaurant and it was brought to our room including a table, chairs, candles, etc. It was a romantic and delicious dinner. We were made to feel welcome, the staff was friendly and helpful with local attractions, and the old inn was fun to explore. There was a nice common area where guests could enjoy tea or a snack with other guests, and an outside roof-top deck for nice weather. The Inn is a short drive from battlefield monuments and other attractions, but Gettysburg isn't that big, so I don't see this as a negative. This is definitely a great place for a romantic getaway.

Room Tip: Look at the Web site to see available rooms. Rooms 1-5 are purportedly haunted (or the corridor out...

After driving in terrential rain for a couple hours, my partner and I got to the Inn an hour early for check in. Worried we would have to go drive around for an hour, we stepped up to the door to make sure we had the check in time correct. We did, but just as we turned to leave a woman came and opened the door. She let us in and allowed us to check in an hour early. We were treated to complimentary champaigne as we sat by the fire and waited for the room key. Once we got to the room, 16, we were blown away by the beauty of not only the room, but the house! This is truly a wonderful place to stay and I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Be prepared for any and all types of weather!

Stayed overnight with my niece in room 4. We had a wonderful stay. The room was very clean only the mattress was to soft but I have a bad back so I'm more sensitive to things like that. Even though it is on the road it was very quiet and we had a good nights sleep. Dinner and breakfast where both outstanding. We didn't experience any of the electrical disturbances other reviewers did but boy did we get a lot of orbs. We took photos with 3 different cameras and orbs only showed up on one camera. Very interesting, can't wait to go back.

My wife and I stayed two weekdays during an early-October visit to the Gettysburg NMP. Inn is located immediatley adjacent to the park and approx 1/2 mile from the Gettysburg business district, but neither are easily reached on foot. Accomodations and common areas of inn were very good. Dined at the inn's restaurant both nights and fare was excellent. Staff throughout the property were attentive, pleasant and accomodating.Overall, a very good value. We would not hesitate to stay and dine at Herr Ridge in future.

Room Tip: Stayed in 2nd floor annex room. Room was comforable and quiet.
