We decided to stop at the pool and escape the 30 degree heat for a while. The facility was nice. It was a bit sandy in the leisure pool area. Also a bit expensive to drop in, compared to other community centers we have visited but it is the only one in the area. If you arent swimming in the ocean, it's a good place to stop in.

We spent a week in Cannon Beach, but felt we needed a break from the beach, sun and sand. The Astoria Aquatic Center was a great way to spend an afternoon with our grade-school aged son. The water slide was just the right size! If you're not in to the water part of things, they also have a very nice and spacious waiting/viewing area.

Great way to burn some energy and cool off. Make sure you go when the red slide is open, usually between 5 and 7 pm, though occasionally closed during swim lessons. Clean facility with many areas to play and swim so you don't feel crowded.

The Astoria aquatic center was a life saver to my mom and I during the weekend of Nov 13-15 when it was raining cats and dogs at the North Coast and our plans to go hiking and sightseeing had to be changed drastically. The center is across from the Columbia Maritime Museum; it is not huge but it is very clean and the front desk staff is friendly and helpful. The women's locker room is spacious, well-lit and has clean, functional showers. We were at the center between 10 am and noon. There were no kids during that time. I believe the water slides are open from 5 pm to 7 pm. We did not go into the lap pool and stayed primarily in the shallow therapy pool which is warmer and the "lazy river" area which is too small IMO to be considered a "lazy river". The jacuzzi was wonderful.... We paid $6.50 per person for two hours of exercise and relaxation. Great deal!
