Tyson Street
Ranked #201 of 247 things to do in Baltimore
Reviewed 4 April 2009

A beautiful leafy block wedged between Read Street and Park Avenue in the Mount Vernon Cultural District. Quaint mid-19th C brick townhouses line the street with brightly painted shutters and window boxes spilling forth with colorful flowers and plants.

A few short blocks from the world famous Walter's Art Museum, Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), this neighborhood is full of attractions.

There are quirky shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, art and design boutiques nearby to suit all tastes. Worth a peak is the nattily appointed tattoo parlor upstairs at the corner of Park Ave. and Chase Street.

This neighborhood is minutes from the University of Maryland professional school campuses and Johns Hopkins Medical Center, as well as the Baltimore Convention Center, Ravens Stadium and Camden Yards.

Light Rail and Pennsylvania Station are close, providing convenient public transportation to other parts of the city, and the region.

Definitely worth a detour.
