“Pet friendly, great downtown location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 February 2012

I needed a place that accepted pets; I was attending a conference at a nearby hotel and could not arrange a house-sitter in time. Residence Inn always comes through. Staff are very friendly and especially nice to the dog. There is a pet fee. The room was really nice, with a separate bedroom.

I stayed there for 3 nights with my two kids and my wife. Rooms are larger than in most hotels I have been, the full size fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher are wonderful when you are traveling with kids and want to stay on a budget. The staff in the lobby, breakfast area and valet parking were ALL very friendly and professional, everybody I saw was working hard and very efficiently. My sister and her family were in another room and we had dinner downstairs all 3 nights. They let us stay in the breakfast area and gave us wine glasses for our wine... they were very accommodating. Thumbs up for whomever provides customer service training to the staff at this hotel, everybody was excellent. Breakfast was way above average for a free breakfast, items were constantly being replenished, all good. The mattresses were VERY comfortable. Our car was ready waiting for us within 10 minutes of calling in. All this for $129+ tax in that location??

Thank you to the Residence Inn people for making our stay so enjoyable!

This is our 5th stay at this hotel and we love it!! We were in town for a cheerleading competition. Great location to the Harbor and the 1st Mariner arena! We will definitely be back!!

Room Tip: High Floor and ask for a corner room, they are much bigger!!

This is a very convenient hotel. For a family with 3 children, a suite hotel is a necessity and the Residence Inn fits the bill. But, you are sacrificing for the extra space and free breakfast, This hotel is LOUD. I have stayed in many downtown hotels and you do expect some street noise. However, this is extreme. We were awken both nights of our stay when the bars closed at 2am. On the second night I was awoken by the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke, cologne, and beer. Apprently the large group of young men across the hall took their party back to the hotel after closing time.
The bed was a bit uncomfortable. The pull out couch took up the whole room.
The staff was very freindly and helpful. The breakfast was reasonable. Not great, but good. Most importantly, it fed our 3 kids and was free. Be there before 8:30 to avoid the very long wait.
You get what you pay for. This is a reasonably priced hotel in a very convenient location. You get convenience and function, not luxury, at a Residence Inn.

Room Tip: Perhaps rooms on a higher floor facing away from the harbor would be quieter?

The Residence Inn has a lot to recommend it as other reviews have pointed out. The staff is amazingly nice, friendly and efficient. Rooms were large, the kitchenette is a real nice dimension when you have children and want to bring back snacks for them. The breakfast buffet truly is a level above all of the other hotels who seem to think a toaster with several loafs of bread and cold cereal is "free breakfast." They had eggs, hashbrowns, waffles, excellent coffee, etc.

The only down side was the small things. Not enough towels. The dishwasher with dirty dishes (really dirty, with chunks of food). Even in the folder with the various services offered in the hotel, when I opened up there was a small pile of potato chips fell out. And no remote control.

I'd still recommend it but give it an "above average." It simply needs to polish the rough edges.

Room Tip: Higher the better

As we drew up we were met by the porters who helped us with our luggage and took the car to park it. We were only booked in for 1 night, with children but asked for an upgrade anyway. We were pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded to a suite (we are Marriott members). The room was very spacious and comfortable with a well equipped kitchenette and flat screen TVs in both bedrooms and the lounge.
The hotel is close to the harbour and it was just a short 5 minute walk to be in the centre of things. All staff were very polite, even when we had to get things out of the car (the porters collected the car and took it back when we had finished). On asking where to eat dinner we were advised and took the option of the restaurant that shuttled us to and fro - Mo's Italian diner - a wonderful meal!
Next morning the breakfast was wonderful and a huge choice of food. The only slight problem was the dining room was over crowded, but we ate in the lounged area at the suggestion of the reception staff. A wonderful place highly recommended.

Great staff, very warm and friendly. Main "ding" is that housekeeping needs to be a bit more on par. We had a two bedroom suite, and only one roll of toilet paper. Meaning, one bathroom had no paper at all! They also did not have any spare blankets in the room, and it was quite cold the night we were there. The beds only had sheets and a thin blanket. The other party we were traveling with also had room issues with an improperly installed dishwasher.
