Certificate of Excellence
Description: Magdalena, a fine-dining bistro, is both informal and thrilling, a culinary jewel of Baltimore. The cross-cultural menu is built upon the finest local ingredients, and changes with the seasons and the inspiration of the chef. There are five different dining areas at Magdalena: the Garden Room, which looks out onto The Ivy’s walled Courtyard; the intimate, romantic Treasury - where sterling and crystal were once kept under lock and key, and where welcoming tables now stand under pools of lamplight; the vaulted, brick-floored Wine Cellar; Tasting Room; and the handsome, convivial Bar. And of course diners are welcome to enjoy drinks at the Bar before moving to their table. Magdalena is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Reservations are suggested. Tuesday-Thursday: 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. Friday: 5:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Saturday: 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Complimentary valet service.

Completely exceeds expectations....

Magdalena has the atmosphere, food and service to make any evening worth the travel and expense. We were met with 5 star service and it remain consistent. My family and I can not wait to return. The cuisine was superb. Fried oysters app was a great treat ; as well as, the bone in rib eye steak.

Dessert was a great finish and to meet Chef Sarah the pastry chef made the difference. Thanks to Manager Emmanuel and his team. Special shout out to Dottie with her warm and charming service.

It was a evening my mother will long remember.

I'm surprised about all the great reviews. The food was fine, the atmosphere was ok, but the prices were incredible. If the check was half what it was, I would be giving Magdalena a much higher rating, but for these prices you expect something spectacular and you don't get it.

In town for a weekend visit with friends. Selected Magdalena off of Open Table. We were a party of six. Very attentive staff! Interesting decor, nice ambiance.

The evening was all about truffles...truffle oil, truffle risotto, truffle added to a vegetarian tart, etc. Even truffle butter. Our server mentioned anything we ordered could have truffle. Truffle is expensive!!!
Sadly, our meal service was extremely slow. Our friends ordered several bottles of wine...it was good but not reflective of pricing.

Word of caution, if you're hungry and expect large portions, you'll be disappointed. ...save this place for another time. Serving sizes are small. Yes, everything is fresh. Creative eclectic menu. Original flavorful dishes.

We did get dessert, too. Two members of our party left there hungry...needless to say, we were disappointed. $pent a fortune and walked away with a large whole in our pocket. This restaurant reminds of NYC, specifically upper east side Manhattan. Lovely presentations with creative food art. This was more along the lines of a tasting menu.

This was my first visit of Magdalena, and I am very pleased for trying. First of all, the service was great. The choices for the main meals were small, but all seemed good. We were a party of three, and all were happy with our orders. For hors de vour, we chose mushroom risotto that was divine, and so was the sauce in my scallop dinner. Ah, did I mention about the desserts? The apple tart and the Magdalene chocolate cake could not be better. So, I highly recommend this restaurant for a fantastic experience in gastronomy!

We sat at the bar. Lovely place, very quiet, upscale but not stuffy. Definitely pricey but worth it.
