Owner description: Our Visitor Center, "Miss Laura's Social Club," is located inside of Fort Smith's historic downtown area and sits alongside the Arkansas River. Out of seven "row houses" that lined Fort Smith's Old West red light district, Miss Laura's is the only house of ill-repute that stood the test of time. Now, it is the only former bordello on the National Register of Historic Places, and it has been fully restored to its original grandeur. Make Miss Laura's your first stop and we’ll give you a tour of this Victorian mansion that has become a prominent symbol of this once boisterous border town's very colorful past!

Our guide was very energetic and took time to answer questions and give us all the history she knew. Our group was very pleased with the tour.

If you are planning a visit to Ft. Smith, make Miss Laura’s Social Club your first stop. It is the official Visitor’s Center for Ft. Smith and they have numerous brochures, maps, etc available to help you plan your visit. But the best part is the tour of the bordello itself. This is a beautiful house that has been restored to perfection! Every room takes you back in time and you can just imagine what it was like in its day. There are so many pictures of the “girls” and some of their personal belongings on display that it makes the tour that much more real. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and told us interesting and funny stories about the era and the “business”. There is a small area set up where you can purchase souvenirs; but you will also receive a free, fun souvenir when you leave. This really is a must do if you are in Ft. Smith.

We were traveling with a motor coach tour and "Miss Laura's Social Club" / Visitors Center was our first stop in Fort Smith. We were cordially greeted by "Miss Laura" (Carolyn Joyce). She gave us a tour of the Bawdy House and an overview of the Fort Smith area and it's history. While attending several of the local attractions she proved to be a fantastic asset during our stay in Fort Smith.

Restore house is used a visitor's center but was a brothel. Tours are given about the history of the time. Gives a different perspective into the history of the area. Not your usual place to visit. tour is free, but donations are requested.
