Cool place. You can see musk ox and caribou, in this research based setting. While there is a free viewing area and a good little gift shop you'll be much happier and get better views (and info) with the tour.
Easy to pair with a visit to the Museum of the North.

An excellent low key way to see and learn about Musk Ox and Reindeer. The student guide was superb, so knowledgeable and passionate about the animals in their care. You don't need to pre-book the tours, just turn up the times are on their website. I don't think it would be worth going without doing a tour, as most of the animals are in the guided only access section.

The information was great. The 'tour' guide was good but put a bit too much politics into her presentation. The kids (11 and 14) LOVED this. It's called Large Animal but there are only Muskox and Reindeer - no other animals. The research they're doing is outstanding and deserves more promotion. Stepped seating with a canvas cover would be great and not an expensive addition.

the tour was nice. Some rude people decided to attend and I guess just wanted to participate during the tour by talking the entire time while the guy was presenting. difficult to hear everything. The research they are doing is great and exciting to see the introduction of them into Alaska

Nice to see and hear about the research they are doing at the park. They were informative and do a great job there. Glad we went.
