A very interesting 1 to 1.5 hour guided tour to see the work the University of Alaska Fairbanks is doing with Musk Oxen and Reindeer. A nominal fee required, but you get to see Musk Ox and Reindeer up close and learn a lot about the animals.

The musk ox are the star attraction here. They are relatively shy so don't always come out of the surrounding forest, but if you go in early afternoon you may catch a feeding time and then they do emerge to eat. Beautiful creatures. Also reindeer in residence so you can also catch them at feeding time. An informative tour is available Nice little gift shop on premises as well.

Cool place. You can see musk ox and caribou, in this research based setting. While there is a free viewing area and a good little gift shop you'll be much happier and get better views (and info) with the tour.
Easy to pair with a visit to the Museum of the North.

An excellent low key way to see and learn about Musk Ox and Reindeer. The student guide was superb, so knowledgeable and passionate about the animals in their care. You don't need to pre-book the tours, just turn up the times are on their website. I don't think it would be worth going without doing a tour, as most of the animals are in the guided only access section.

The information was great. The 'tour' guide was good but put a bit too much politics into her presentation. The kids (11 and 14) LOVED this. It's called Large Animal but there are only Muskox and Reindeer - no other animals. The research they're doing is outstanding and deserves more promotion. Stepped seating with a canvas cover would be great and not an expensive addition.
