Best time ever! Kathy has an intuitive sense about her guests' needs and personalities and provides such good care of them. She had lots of good advice about things to do and see in Fairbanks and environs. The aurora was spectacular, right out the front door of A Moose in the Garden. On top of that, her home is wonderful-beautifully and comfortably furnished with interesting touches waiting to be discovered, AND with a view of Denali. It is cozy and clean. And breakfast-yummy! Book early-I wasn't able to stay quite as long as I wanted, despite planning months in advance (all other guests said the same thing). Thanks Kathy!

Room Tip: They are all terrific-depends on what you prefer.

From the moment that we arrived to our final good-bye, our experience with Kathy and our stay at The Moose in the Garden was amazing. We came to Fairbanks in February on a life long dream to see the auroras and we were not disappointed. Kathy even woke me up at 1:30 am on our first night to see the glorious display overhead.
The house itself is breathtaking, built with massive logs and adorned with wonderful examples of Alaskan décor. From the outdoor deck we were able to see Mt. McKinley at sunset and again at sunrise. We stayed in the Northern Lights room which was spacious and comfortable in every way. On our second night, I went from window to window trying to catch every glimpse of the aurora show displayed just for me in the quiet of the sleeping house.
By the time we arrived in Alaska, I felt that Kathy was already a friend. Due to a family emergency, we had to cancel our plans the year before, so by the time of this trip, Kathy and I had talked on the phone and e mailed many, many times. Kathy is perfectly suited to have a Bed and Breakfast. She extends a warm Alaskan welcome to her guests as she strives to anticipate and meet the needs of her visitors. She goes out of her way to make her home comfortable and her guests relaxed.
A Moose in the Garden is located out in the country in an area that feels like it is on top of the world, and yet it is only a few miles from downtown Fairbanks so it is convenient to everything. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We actually have plans to return to see the Far North again when it is not covered with snow.

Room Tip: The Northern Lights room is an experience not to be missed

A Moose in the Garden Bed & Breakfast was a warm and delightful welcome to our awesome but long day of traveling and dog sledding. Kathy had a hot fire blazing and a tea kettle on the stove for much appreciated hot tea. My daughter and I stayed in the Northern Lights Room, an inviting, beautiful space with plenty of room to spread out. The large bathroom and hot tub were definitely a plus and we took full advantage of it! Views from large picture windows in our room added to the ambience and we were able to view the Aurora Borealis even though it was a bit cloudy. We both agreed that it wasn't bold enough to cross off our bucket list so we MUST go back! There is also an awesome view of Denali from the front deck that must be seen to truly be appreciated. Our stay, although brief, was a welcome break from our hectic travel schedule and I would definitely recommend staying here if you're ever in the Fairbanks area. Thanks, Kathy!

Room Tip: All rooms are nice!

We stayed here just after Christmas for 5 nights in the upstairs loft room. Kathy is a great host and a very good cook as well. She will look after you and make you a wonderful breakfast or snack but she is also happy to let you make up your own coffee or snacks if you wish. Our bed was so comfortable and every thing was perfectly clean. You can make yourself right at home here. The b&b is a little out of town but it is easy to get to by car. Kathy can help you with booking tours, etc if you need help and you can use her internet and computer if you need to. We enjoyed our stay there and hope to come back one day.

We feel very lucky to have found this lovely place. We stayed 4 nights hoping to see the aurora borealis. Kathy was very helpful in researching this, giving us websites and always checking to see if it would be visible. We were the only guests and stayed in the Northern Lights loft room. It was super comfortable and had plenty of room to unpack, had a couch and easy chair and wonderful jacuzzi tub. Kathy cooked us delicious breakfasts, very attentive to what our desires were and if we had any special dietary needs. We went downstairs to see what the rooms were like and it would be a perfect place for 2 couples to be. There is a pool table and nice shared bathroom with tub and shower. The living room has 2 big couches and a TV that gets one local channel and there are hundreds of movies to watch on DVD. The aurora wasn't really happening while we were there, we saw a slight showing at 3am one morning. I highly recommend this property.

Came to Fairbanks from Anchorage on Christmas evening to a lovely log home outside Fairbanks for a three-night stay. The host-Kathy-was accommodating and gracious. Full, freshly-prepared breakfasts were delicious, innovative and filling.
The location is a bit out of town, but should be good Northern Lights viewing on clear nights. Unfortunately it was cloudy during our visit.
