We ended up at the Treebo Palmyra Grand Suite after checking in at a hostel we had booked, only to find the hostel had a terrible smell being covered up by strong cleaning products. We quickly decided that we needed to find another accommodation, so onto the internet I went. We narrowed down our options to 2 hotels that appealed to us as they were in the area we wanted and were within our budget (under 2000rp/night). We made the decision to “checkout” the hotels prior to booking after our not so great experience at the hostel. The first stop of the two was sold out of standard rooms and therefore was outside of the budget we wanted to maintain. We then made our way to the Treebo Palmyra Grand Suite. My boyfriend ran in to check availability and the hotel itself. Booking.com gave the option to book around 1700rp/night. My boyfriend was delighted when the front desk host quoted 1500/night, so we decided to stay. The room was more than adequate, the a/c was cold, and the bed was pretty comfortable (after 3 weeks in India, we’d come to realize this wasn’t the norm). The on sight restaurant was reasonably priced as well, and the food was good. Our expectations had been exceeded for our one night stay.
The next day is what changed our entire experience. We woke up intending to have breakfast and checkout. We got to the front counter and were greeted by the same young lady who had checked us in. She stated our charge for the room would be 2500rp, an extra 1000rp over what we were told when we arrived. There was a bit of back and forth between her and my boyfriend regarding the change in price in which she kept insisting she told him 2500. He tried to explain that we would have just booked online at the lower rate had that been the case, but she didn’t seem to follow the logic and kept rolling her eyes at him. We then asked to speak to the manager. He immediately went to the clerk and got her explanation of events before talking to us. He was very abrupt with us, and kept insisting that 2500 was the walk-in price, although he was aware it was cheaper online. He also seemed to struggle with the rational that we would have gone ahead and just booked online at the cheaper rate had we been quoted the 2500 at the counter. We even pulled up the websites showing the 1700rp price, which he acknowledged once again to be correct, but insisted it would be 2500rp. He finally came to terms with my boyfriend and after even more eye rolling agreed to the online price plus tax which ended up around 2100rp. We paid and left with a horrible experience to take with us.
That being said, lesson learned for us to make sure we have the rate WRITTEN DOWN, before proceeding. We had no issues in our first 3 weeks of making accommodations, but there’s always a first.
Secondly, lesson to the staff in customer service. Even if the room is 2500rp, if you make the misquote of 1500rp, you need to honor it, and show enough respect to your paying customers to not roll your eyes at them when they express a lack of satisfaction.
The accommodations were quite nice, so I wouldn’t say to completely avoid this place, just proceed with caution and either prebook/prepay, or make sure you don’t repeat our mistake and get it in writing.

The ambience, Hospitality and the service was really good. Hotel had a good complimentary breakfast everyday, but they could not give drinking water everyday, and when u asked for water, apart from the two small bottle , they said it will be charged, kind of weird for a 3 star hotel. During my 3 days of stay, one night around 1 clock, my kid was not keeping well , so i rushed to the reception, the person was sleeping there and i woke him up and asked him for near doctor. He said its 4 kms for paediatrician. And no other arrangement was there for any such requirement. Next day we went to general hospital which was 500 m from the hotel and consulted with the doctor. Overall it was pleasant experience, i will strongly recommend this to everyone.
