We had to wait for a train in Alleppey so I decided to come here to use the restaurant as it is quite near the station (15 min walk or 3 mins in a tuktuk)

I’m so glad we did. We have just had a very relaxing time at a lovely table overlooking the beach, with a cool overhead fan. The juices and food are delicious and the staff could not be nicer and more accommodating.

I would recommend this place for the food and location. The rooms look very nice, around a quiet courtyard and well tended garden. I think it would be a great place to stay if you wanted somewhere relaxing in Alleppey. The city is very busy but the beach area is more quiet.

This is a great old heritage hotel to stay but it would be wrong to not warn of the location. 2 years ago a road overpass started to be built and it is literally right outside the front door between the hotel and the beach - it is an eyesore and absolutely tragic for the hotel and all its wonderful staff. Do not let it put you off staying there - once inside the hotel you are unaware of the road. The rooms are large and very well appointed. The swimming pool area is fantastic and very welcome after the madness of outside. The restaurants both upstairs and down serve excellent food. There is very little to stay in Allepey for but if you do then this is the best place there is.

The converted 19th century mansion is a really nice place to stay in Alleppey.

The grounds / pool / surroundings / room are all lovely. The beach is viewable from the hotel and well worth the very short walk. Although the main attraction is the backwaters, the beach is stunning.

Unfortunately for The Residency, they are building a big flyover right outside. This didn’t affect our stay at all but it does slightly ruin the amazing beach across from the accommodation. However, I must add that this should not put you off staying here! It’s a great place.

The upstairs restaurant is very nice and the food is better than downstairs! I’ve seen some travellers comment that it is expensive, but compared to a lot of hotels it’s an absolute bargain for nice surroundings and excellent food.

WiFi is good here and the staff are extremely helpful. Check out the great array of books in reception too :)

Food is above average but expensive. European tourists flood this place by the beach. Downstairs restaurant is recommended and very crowded. Upstairs there is another restaurant which I would not recommend. There is a small swimming pool next to the restaurant.

My husband and I are about to leave Raheem after 3 wonderful nights in Alleppy.
It is exactly what I had dreamed of - lovely terraces out front and back to sit and read your book while the monsoon rains fall; and a Big bedroom and bathroom which were clean and comfortable although could do with some freshening up.
There are 2 dining choices both of which are attractive and comfortable and have a varied menu to cater for western needs. Both restaurants serve beer and wine too (try the Indian wines and be pleasantly surprised!)
The staff are shy but friendly and helpful, and warm up when you engage them.
There's a small in-house Ayurvedic centre where you can have treatments on request. I had a wonderful 1 hour massage by an extremely good masseuse that was one of the best I've ever had. Nothing fancy just the real genuine deal! Right across the street from the Residency is the beach. And there is lots to see and do within walking distance however, the security man out from will call you a tuktuk if you want to venture further afield.
Now, beware! There is a big construction job going on sadly right outside the Residency. This in truth looks ugly to start with and there is some noise BUT it did not affect my stay at all. I still managed to get everything i wanted, rest and relaxation, here!
Highly recommended!
