Hidden Paradise Cottages
Ranked #9 of 90 Speciality Lodging in Amed

Amed heads a series of little villages on this ten kilometre stretch of coral coast. Lipah, about four km south east of Amed is where you will find Hidden Paradise Cottages, right on the volcanic sand beach and steps away from an underwater paradise of mushroom coral and multi-coloured tropical fish. Not having pre-booked any accommodation we walked up to a few hotels before we decided on Hidden Paradise Cottages. We really enjoyed our stay there in a newly renovated air-conditioned villa. Facilities included an old-school kidney shaped cool water pool, an activities room with movies screened nightly and the beach-side restaurant’s menu was delicious with ‘Amed cuisine’ a favourite every night, locally caught fish a speciality. The staff were great, really helpful and we secured a good room rate that pleased everybody. We will return for sure.
Bali’s north east coast is still relatively quiet. It is dry, it is poor; a walk through these villages will challenge those who live comfortable lives away from the relentlessly hard and poverty-ridden existence endured by these stoic, proud and graceful people.

Hidden Paradise Cottage is in 1 word amazing! Amazing staff and super friedly and helpfull. The people from Bali want to do everything for you. The hotel arranged nice excursion over the island with our driver and guide Putu. He will bring really everywhere you want to go. The hotel is nice an quite and there is an amazing Coralrif just 10 meters from the beach. We stayed here for 11 nights and we enjoyed every second of it. Rooms are really clean and beautifull. Really specious. The garden where all cottages are located is really nice with beautifull trees and flowers.
I recommend everybody who wants to enjoy the peace and calm on Bali to this spot and hotel. There is not much to do in the area, but if you come to relax this is perfect.

We have stayed here the last 3 years in the family bungalow out front,it always did the job but was getting a bit titred.Fast forward to 2012 and the bathrooms in the family bungalows, not sure about the rest, have all been renovated and are just perfect and the rooms are great as well.
Keep in mind this is not 5 star luxury but its more than adequate for most travellers.
The pool is not large but its never busy either and there is a nice beach to swim off or snorkel to enjoy the coral and the fish that live there. The grounds are lovely and the staff friendly pls massages are great at a reasonable price.
Breakfast is ok and when we have decided to have dinner there the food was fine.
Cant wait to get back next year!!

We stumbled across this accomodation by chance, and thank goodness! We initially made a booking to stay with another hotel in Amed for 5 nights, and despite a very hefty price tag we decided to move (the room to accomodate 2 adults, 2 kids was tiny, and the location not desirable).

We were told about HPC by dutch family that we met on Lembongan island and luckily were able to secure a family villa for the remainder of our stay. It was much cheaper than our previous accomodation, and the rooms, gardens, etc beautiful. There was heaps of room for the kids, our villa overlooked the pool and had its on verandah/deck with sun lounges etc. My favourite was the huge outdoor bathroom with two showers, and the STONE BATH set upon white pebbles.... Our kids also loved the brand new multi-function room, that was air-conditioned and overlooked the beach. At night they watched movies in this area, whilst my husband and myself had drinks in the reataurant that sat directly opposite it. Very relaxing and easy.

The food (huge menu of western and asian food) and beverages at HPC were also affordable, which meant you didn't feel you had to shop outside. Although it is situated right on Lipa beach that has numerous local shops and local restaurants.

The beach is black sand, and the hotel is situated right on it. Hire a snorkel and you can see great fish and coral 3 metres from the shore line. The hotel can also organise more extensive snorkeling and dive trips by boat.

Very good breakfast included in the price. Fresh fruit juices, fruit platter, eggs/toast, panckaes or asian style noodles/rice. I could go on forever, as it was a great stay and we were just so grateful we were able to change to this accomodation. Would be also good for couples.

Bungalows in the middle of a garden with bathrooms open to the sky. Nothing like looking at the mountains and palm trees when you are having your shower!
Restaurant by the see. Swimming pool ok. If you like snorkeling, lovely fishes and corals. Fishermen can bring you for a trip or organize a barbecue on the beach with the fish of the day for very reasonable price.

Room Tip: try to get the family bungalows if you are 4! They are booked very early in advance.

Hidden Paradise is a nice hotel with the good location around Amed.
The garden so green, the morning beach shines like gold.
Easy to find skin diving spot.
A bit far from the Denpasar.
Next time back to Bali will comeback to Hidden Paradise

Stayed in a cottage number 13. Lovely large clean rooms and enjoyed the partly open air bathrooms. Beautiful gardens and pool area. Enjoyed the food in the restaurant and had lovely breakfasts. Wish the gorgeous tropical pool area has areas for having loungers around it as not conducive to spending much time in it and not fussed on lying on the loungers in front of the restaurant. Black sand beach-very pretty (though not as nice as NZ beaches) but wow, snorkelling was great. Took our own gear but can hire it and snorkelled off beach at other end of beach about 20m out to 60m and really impressed with the colourful coral and number of fish! Worked out to about $105NZ/night. If you value sleep ins Amed is not the place for you as the local roosters start at 0430hrs and local ceremonies/singing all night while we were there. Wouldn't stop us from returning though as the snorkelling here and on the Liberty Wreck in Tulamben was outstanding and an afternoon sleep makes up for the early morning wake up call.....Recommend Sails Restaurant-will pick you up from Hotel if required.

Room Tip: If you don't mind spending more-get a family room with an outdoor bath and a view of the pool an...
