The view from the hotel is breathtaking as it faces the beautiful Lake Gregory. The chalets are very spacious and well maintained. The staff is very courteous and efficient.

If you like a great view outside your room then this is it. We had a room facing the lake Gregory and a beautiful view of the sunrise by the porch. Had a great walk around the lake in the morning and please bring some warm clothing as the temperature can dip below 18'c. Overall stay was OK, service staff had problem communicating as we asked for a room service menu and never get one. More than an hour gone by and we decided to go back to the reception/dining room for our Lunch and eat there since we did not have our menu delivered. The staff at the counter have a poor service manner, doesnt speak and also does not look at a person when we talked. The other person who can speak English got irritated easily when we asked some questions not sure why he is so impatient. The room is big though for a family of 4 or 5 would be best and the area around the chalet is great for nature loving people.

Situated on the bank of the lake in a nice small park. Restaurant with an open kitchen is ok. Rooms (chalets) are very spacious - suit familys.

If you want to experience the nature, this is the best place in town.. i stayed 2 nights and had one of the best experiences beside a lake.. The staff was friendly except a dark dude at the reception. the manager made sure that we had the best experience in town. the best part was the morning breakfast opposite the lake.. boat rides, peddle boats, plenty of fishing in the lake ( i got my fishing rod along)..

Perhaps we expected too much after excellent small hotels in other regions of Sri Lanka, but we were very disappointed. First of all, rooms are musty and damp. There were no towels, and after repeated requests were told it was laundry day. There was no shower curtain, and the bathroom floor drain backed up and flooded the bathroom. Fawcets hard to use. No toilet paper. The heater they brought made a loud clanking noise. The food was poor: pizza, their supposed specially, took a hour to arrive, and was undercooked. Again, the omelet breakfast came with raw eggs in the middle; and the server was not happy to comply with request to have it cooked throughout. Perhaps it is ok as a real budget motel, but we paid a decent price, and we're very disappointed. Caveat emptor. (Also, location on trip advisor web site map incorrect - it is on Lake Gregory, a good km from town, and a bit inconvenient.)

The best thing I can say about this hotel is that, if you are touring around Sri Lanka, it offers some respite from the usual corporate chain-type hotels.

We stayed for a single night. As indicated by others, the food selection was limited but they have a pizza oven which they fired up, producing hot, cheesy treats to take your mind off the cold (and given that we were in Sri Lanka and had, until that night, only experienced sunny climes, it was a cold night indeed).

The chalet interiors are covered in wood from top to bottom, the main nods to technology coming in the form of satellite TV and a small safe. The heater provided to warm the room up was, unfortunately, rather titchy and did not help much. Bathrooms were lacking in that they appeared rather 'rustic' (the shower unit, for example, did not even have a curtain or glass divider), and soap was not provided, but at least the water was piping hot. Wifi signal was weak inside the room but stepping outside to take in the lakeside view seemed to improve its potency.

Overall I would recommend this hotel, as mentioned above I think it is a nice little contrast to the other hotels we stayed in during our time in Sri Lanka. If you are going to Nuwara Eliya - the so-called "Switzerland of the East", then why not stay in a chalet?

Room Tip: Bring something warm to wear as this was our coldest night in Sri Lanka by some distance. Other peop...

We checked in and the reception was very friendly and they sent a welcome tea to the room. After that, nothing worked. When we arrived, the room had not been completely prepared. The floors were dirty, the upstairs bed had no bedding, there were no towels. The phone and internet did not work therefore we had to walk back and forth in the mud to the lobby to ask for the room to be cleaned and for towels and bedding. They could only give us bath mats for towels because they were out of towels. The floors never did get cleaned, they just provided us with flip flops. There was no water when I went to shower but had to get dressed and walk to the lobby to ask them if they could fix it! It was a comical stay and very expensive for what you get. There isn't much to do in Nurwara Eliya. On a positive note, the chalet was lovely and the mattress and bedding very comfortable with a view of the lake and great cable tv. It was so cold that we all got the best rest we’d had in ages. The staff was sweet and the food was nice and reasonably priced. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: Maybe its nicer in April when the weather is better.
