This is the spot for nightlife in a Madison. All along state street and the surrounding area are great bars, restaurants, and shopping. State street itself gets blocked off certain times of the year for multiple block-long parties, namely Halloween.

As a long time local resident, I can honestly say that I still enjoy state street. It always have mixed age groups, so everyone can hang out and feel like they fit in.

It is truly a place that is what you make it to be.

You can take A romantic stroll, popping in for treats to share at some of the cafes.

You can be with your girlfriends doing some shopping (or window shopping) at the cool shops that try have scattered in the area.

You can be getting over A bad breakup and need somewhere to go with friends to get drunk and dance the night away.

You can go solo, grab a dish of ice cream at our locally made ice cream parlor, The Chocolate Shoppe and just take a stroll while doing some people watching.

You can also end your evening with a great dinner at many of the fine reataurants that offer outside seating. If you're lucky, you may get to hear some great music from any of our local struggling artists on the corner while you enjoy your meal and drinks. Enjoy

Nice place to walk around when the weather is a little warmer. Tons of bars to have a cold one and watch different college sport's on TV. Many different places to eat as well, nothing really 5 star but some of the best bar food you ever had!!!

Very nice quiet street with lots of shops and restaurants. The best restaurants do not work until 5 pm .There is plenty of potential for progress to better decorated shops and restaurants with better choice of clothing and footwear. In the malls just outside the downtown is a better choice.
