My husband and I were in town for UW Madison commencement ceremony for our daughter. The Mansion Hill Inn is excellently located on the north side of the Capital Square Area, easy walking or Uber distance to all venues on the UW campus. After a long, unusually warm day of commencement, photos, and parties, this was an excellent quiet retreat. Our family enjoyed a bottle of champagne on our private balcony and had a chance to enjoy some quiet time. The Inn does have a bar with wine and beer, however, we had brought along a bottle of champagne for the occasion.

Slept well, did not hear noise from neighborhood despite it being graduation party night in Madison. Comfortable mattresses, not too soft. Rain shower, no tub, one sink in bathroom. Could use a full length mirror. Breakfast in common room includes pastries, scones, coffee, tea, fruit, granola, boiled eggs. Staff was friendly and helpful, especially Madeline.

This is a restored 1850's mansion, so expect steep stairs, no elevator and smaller rooms. Not a good choice for those with mobility issues.

Had an outstanding stay made possible by the excellent staff attention to detail.

Room Tip: No elevator, steep staircase to upper rooms. Steep outside stairs to main floor.

This is a charming Inn located near the Capital and University. The staff particularly stands out. Friendly and extremely accommodating. Rooms are clean and I really enjoyed the radiant heat in the bathroom. Food was yummy, the wine good and coffee hot! If staying longer then one night, I would suggest getting a large room. If you have difficultly with stairs, book a room on the first level, as there is no elevator. All in all, wonderful Inn and we would stay here again and again.

Beautiful accommodations in a elegantly restored building. Walkable to most important locations in Madison, especially local and well-known restaurants. Perfect for a splurge and/or romantic time. We particularly loved our private balcony off our room. Staff is friendly and helpful and professional.

Mansion Hill is a lovely place for a getaway. In addition to the beautiful furnishings in a restored 1850's mansion, each room is its own little retreat with comfortable beds made up with luxurious linens and state of the art bathrooms. What really sets Mansion Hill apart from other places is its staff, who are warm, gracious and knowledgeable. They have always recommended fabulous restaurants, places to go and things to see in Madison. And when you return to your room in the evening you will be greeted with a nice note and a plate of warm cookies.

Loved it here -- beautifully restored 1850's mansion run by attentive and friendly staff. Handwritten notes, snacks and refreshments, 24 hour service. They built a fire in the parlor fireplace just for us to sit by.

My husband and I stayed here over parent's weekend. It was fabulous!
The place is beautiful. Our room was very comfortable, immaculate and spacious. Gorgeously restored. It was quiet, the innkeepers were very nice and the snacks and breakfast were delicious. Definitely will be staying here again on our next visit!

The B&B is located in a great, charming, old neighborhood. Loved walking around and looking at the old mansions. Lake Mendota is a few blocks away and just breathtaking at sunset. This was a wonderful find!!

My wife and I were driving round-trip from Chicago to Oregon for 2 1/2 weeks and stayed in a half dozen B&Bs and inns along the way . We stopped in Madison on our last leg.

This was a first - class experience. The inn is beautiful, quiet and built like a fortress. 150 years old and everything worked like new. Great room, great patio, great breakfast and great service. Rodney was a terrific host and advisor.

I have never been to Madison but I will definitely look for an opportunity to return.

Room Tip: Every room is special.
