I go every time I’m in NOLA because it’s fun to people watch and get a beignet. It’s a town staple, the beignets are not the best ever in the world but they are always hot, fresh, and good!

Cafe Du Monde is the kind of place when you tell people “I’m going to New Orleans!” The first thing they say if they want to keep the convo going is - “go to Cafe Du Monde and get a beignet!” Like duh... it’s a conversation piece! The beignets are good, but just as good at other places. Go for the experience!

The experience coming here is a New Orleans ritual that’s a must.
The beneits are great and hot. The outdoor cafe is nice. Somewhat dirty surroundings and powdered sugar everywhere on the floor. It’s part of the experience. It just felt unclean everywhere. Frankly, I like Cafe Beneit better.

I've read some of the reviews and wasn't sure what I was in for. Long story short - your getting beignets, which is like a hunk of funnel cake, and coffee. There isn't much else. But your getting this for a fairly reasonable cost.

There is often a helluva line. Get there early and the line isn't so bad - but there will be a line. There is also a takeout line. Both lines move at the same pace, which isn't bad but they can be long.

If you are here, you are coming for the history. This place has been around forever. You finally get your seat, get your sugar covered fried bread, and just sense the energy of the place. Listen to the crowd pass by. Smell the fried sugar in the air. Feel the history of the place. If you can't appreciate that, you don't need to be there! Definitely recommend!

As advertised with a cup chicory coffee this the best dessert you will have all day. Totally worth making the trip.
Enjoy!
